About the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Collection

In 1968, Jaeger-LeCoultre launched a watch that would remind divers to get back on the surface with an alarm. Called the Memovox Polaris, the iconic timepiece was fitted with the Memovox function or an alarm. Deriving its inspiration and a lot of aesthetic ideas, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris collection still holds the futuristic persona of the original Polaris.

The Polaris Automatic & Date

The simplest of all Polaris, the Polaris Automatic series is home to no complications but has all the bells and whistles for a diving watch. Be it a rotating inner bezel controlled by a knob at the 2 o’clock marker or large index and Arabic markers, the Polaris is a perfect sport watch with a not-so-busy dial. Adding a little bit of information on the dial is the Polaris Date. Inside the Polaris Date, the date window is fixed at the 3 o’clock marker.

The Polaris Perpetual Calendar

On the contrary, the Polaris is also home to a rather busy dial. The Polaris Perpetual Calendar is home to various sub-dials such as the month, day, moon phase, and date fixed at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock marker. Inside the month sub-dial is a split-window displaying year. Whereas, on the lower flange of the moon phase sub-dial is the Southern Hemisphere retrograde moon phase indicator.

The Polaris Chronograph & Chronograph Worldtime

While retaining the DNA of a diver’s watch, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris collection also employs chronographs and world timers. With the Polaris Chronograph series, one has the liberty of measuring the approximate speed of an object with a tachymeter on the flange of the dial. Whereas, two sub-dials at the 3 and 9 o’clock marker depict a 30-minute chronograph and hour counter, respectively. Following the same layout as the Polaris Chronograph series, the Polaris World Time is equipped with three concentric circles on the circumference of the dial. The first two outer circles display the cities, whereas, the last ring displays the hour corresponding to the city. The cities are adjusted by a crown that is uniquely placed at 10 o’clock.

The Mariner

A thorough diver’s watch, the Polaris Mariner series is fitted with a highly legible blue dial and both index and Arabic hour markers. What makes this watch a perfect diver’s tool is the water resistance capacity of 300 meters. Apart from the water resistance, the watch is also home to an alarm iteration called the Polaris Mariner Memovox. The Mariner Memovox chimes the alarm and helps divers realise the time without even glancing at the timepiece.
