Essence

Jacob & Co. as a brand has a very niche following. Producing watches like the Astronomia or Caligula has taken up an image of a more exclusive persona. To counter that image, the brand came up with the Jacob & Co. Epic X Chrono collection. A simple utilitarian chronograph with no over-the-top complications, CNC finished cases, or precious stones but with the DNA of an everyday tough and wearable timepiece.

Features

A set of well-designed chronographs, the Epic X Chrono features two chronograph sub-dials fixed in a ‘Bi-Compax’ layout. These two chronograph sub-dials display small seconds and a 30-minute counter on the 9 and 3 o’clock marker, respectively. These sub-dials are controlled by two pushers on the right-hand side of the timepiece. Apart from the chronograph, the collection also features an inner-rotating bezel. This inner rotating bezel is controlled by a pushdown crown at the 10 o’clock marker. The movement is made visible by a transparent mineral crystal dial available in a vibrant palette. The collection also houses a timepiece that dons a tourbillon on the dial. Called the Epic X Chrono Tourbillon, the centuries-old complication takes a seat at the 6 o’clock marker. Sliding back to the roots, the Epic X Chrono also features a set of timepieces fitted with baguette-cut diamonds called the Epic X Chrono Baguette.

Movement

Specially designed for the Epic X Chrono, the in-house JCAA05 movement is an automatic movement. Offering a power reserve of up to 48 hours, the movement is displayed on the dial and on the case back. However, in the Epic X Chrono Tourbillon, the in-house JCAA09 movement takes charge.

Limited Editions

Though presented in a simple setup as compared to the brand’s previous creations, there are a plethora of limited editions that have adorned the Epic X Chrono collection. Jacob & Co. has partnered with Bugatti, Lionel Messi, and UFC Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Apart from brands and personalities, the Epic X Chrono collection also makes limited edition timepieces for countries such as Mexico and UAE. One such example is the Epic X Chrono Carbon Mexico, made in conjunction with the monument El Angel in Mexico City, this timepiece is just limited to 30 units.
