About the IWC Pilots Collection
History
Pocket watches used by pilots were the norm when aviation first became a science. IWC soon changed that by revolutionising wristwatches wholly modelled for pilots. In 1936 the first special Pilot’s watch was introduced into the market, fitted and customized only for the pilot’s convenience. In 1940 the world was introduced to the Big Pilot’s watch which was a classic rendition of a cockpit design in an aircraft. The equipment was laid out in accordance to the placing of instruments in a cockpit. This was soon followed by IWC’s cleverly engineered Mark XII which was crafted as a tribute to the Royal Air force in 1948 and has been loved and used for more than 2 score years till date.
Features
The first few editions of the Pilot's watches were crafted with sound and pleasing aesthetics. Built with a clean and simplistic look in mind, the watch had a rotating bezel with an arrowhead index to help keep track of short periods of time as well as an antimagnetic escapement incorporated in it. The luminescent hands and numerals provide high contrast and great visualization. These luxury time-pieces have bold, rugged straps that embody the spirit of the adventurer. Sapphire glass in highly polished form is used in the making of these time-pieces to provide resistance to air pressure. This is purely a traveller’s watch. Many outstanding modifications and improved movements have been implemented in this collections design since 2012. The cases are made from a variety of dependable and fashionable material such as rose gold, stainless steel and ceramic. The dial comes in individualistic colours including black, blue, silver and brown, pampering customers till they are spoilt for choice.
Associations
The IWC’s Pilot's watch family welcomed in its midst a fresh new edition - the Top Gun watch, named in honour of the special training course offered by the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School, the ‘Strike Fighter Tactics instructor’ which has been famously dubbed ‘Top Gun’. Five new intricately designed models of the Top Gun collection came out to the fore in 2012, more than enough for Top Gun to delineate and become an independent line altogether.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
Calibre 79320 is an automatic movement which takes the Valjoux 7750 as its base and is meticulously enhanced to meet IWC’s high standards. With a 30mm diameter, it operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a 44-hour power reserve. This movement features 25 jewels and is adorned with Côtes de Genève decoration. It includes a chronograph function with hours, minutes, and small seconds, along with day and date displays. The movement is protected by a soft-iron inner case against magnetic fields and covered with antireflective sapphire glass.

IWC or international watch company is a Portuguese horological connoisseur with over 140 years of watchmaking experience at its behest. The brand is reputed for its inventions such as the Ingeniuer (french word for engineer) a watch that is protected from magnetic interference,the pilot series and many other classics.the timepieces are feature rich but maintains a simple yet truly elegant look.The latest edition pilot, still maintains the tradition inherited from the pilot mark VI. Incorporating a similar design inspired by the gauges in an aeroplane, the watch still adheres to true aviation inspired design. The automatic chronograph is at par with COSC standards and is able to record seconds hours and minutes .the red and white hands stands out from the truly black dial. The Arabic numerals, lume and the details are done with perfectionism. A true masterpiece of ultimate engineering. Must have for both pilots and engineers alike

With over 140 years of watch making expertise at its behest, IWC has always been known for making watches required for professionals for whom time is everything. The Pilot's Chronograph from IWC is no different. The Pilot's Chronograph features the sub-dials arranged in a manner which bears resemblance to the altimeter of a plane's cockpit. It has got the stopwatch function which makes it possible to record time in seconds, minutes and hours. The day and date function are along the three o'clock marker with a red arrow pointing to it. The aperture displaying the date looks absolutely gorgeous. The detailing which has been done in white blends in well with the black background. An absolutely fantastic watch to have.

IWC’s Pilot collection features watches at home high in the sky as well on the ground. This piece is a subtle variation and a modern approach to classic IWC Pilots and it does not fail to deliver in terms of class. The stainless steel case houses the 79320 calibre having an approximate power reserve of 44 hours. In addition to its inner iron case which protects from magnetic interference, it also has chronograph function where the sub-dials are slightly sunken with a circular textured pattern. The black dial is augmented by large Arabic numeral hour markers and white propeller styled white hands; and the date function is depicted via a traditional altimeter styled display. The black leather strap adds more finesse matching the matt black of the dial.
