Backdrop

Launched in 1994, the first watches by Ikepod were manufactured under the moniker of “POD”. After gaining immense popularity, the brand switched its name to Ikepod, but the rights of “POD” remained. To pay tribute to the early watches by the brand, the Ikepod Pod collection was launched.

Features

The Pod collection features a two-hand variant and a chronograph variant. Limited to only 50 units, the Pod collection is quite rare. The Pod's first and most simple iteration features two hands for timekeeping duties. The chronograph variant features three horizontally stacked sub-dials featuring a 30 minute-counter at 9 o’clock, a running seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock, and a 24-hour marker at 3 o’clock. Complementing the sub-dials is the date window placed between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions.

Movement

Unlike the original PODs, the revamped Pod is fitted not with Swiss mechanical movement but with the Miyota quartz movement from Japan. The replacement of the mechanical movement with quartz was done to make these timepieces more affordable.
