About the Ikepod Duopod Collection
Backdrop
Founded by Marc Newson in 1994, Ikepod shaped the watchmaking scenario with its artistic watches. For almost a decade, Ikepod, under the direction of Newson, developed various timepieces. In 2012, Newson left Ikepod, and for 4 years, the brand was inactive. After resurrecting the brand in 2018, the new leadership decided to launch a Kickstarter campaign. The result was the new Ikepod Duopod collection.
Features
The sleek and minimalistic Duopod features two hands to display hours and minutes. The absence of the running seconds hands makes it difficult to discern if the watch is automatic or quartz powered. The case measures 42mm but wears 39mm due to the absence of the lugs. The smooth, round case provides the timepieces with a comfortable aesthetic and a rather cleaner silhouette. The watches inside the collection are fitted with Miyota’s quartz movements.
Tom Christopher x Ikepod
Carrying forward the tradition of collaborating with artists, Ikepod decided to incorporate Tom Christopher, an American painter known for his urban paintings and murals. Called the Art Series, the limited edition Duopods feature dials painted by Tom himself. Limited to 111 pieces, the timepieces come with a certificate signed by Tom.
