About the Corum Admiral Collection

History
The Corum Admiral collection was launched in 1960, just 5 years after the brand’s inception. The Admiral collection imbibes the idea of maritime horology with the brand’s avant-garde approach. Since its launch, the Corum Admiral is often dubbed as one of the most iconic timepieces of the 20th century.

Essence
Taking inspiration from Admiral’s Cup, the international yachting regatta, the Admiral collection even outlived the sailing races that were cancelled in 2005. Eventually, even with the truncated name ‘Admiral’, this series has gone through countless transformations and updates—each one better than its predecessor. However, the most significant and lasting change can be traced back to the 1980s, when Corum presented the timepiece in the now-standard dodecagonal case instead of the original square-shaped silhouette. Thanks to the positive response from the critics and aficionados, the new design became synonymous with the collection and enjoys a cult following even today. Building on this legacy of superior looks and groundbreaking performance, the La Chaux-de-Fonds-based watchmakers have created a timeless piece of horology.

Features

Whether it’s the chronographs or the time-and-date series, the display of the new Admiral collection is simply captivating and perfectly legible. Throughout the range, we see the dauphine-shaped and Super-LumiNova-coated timekeeping hands along with neatly placed hour indices. In the 38mm models, the signature 12 nautical pennants remain on the flange, whereas in the 42mm variants, they are placed on the dial and seen in bright colourful hues except in some of the latest iterations where the pennants are placed on the flange. To further boast about their technical prowess, the Admiral 45 series with the Openwork and Skeleton watches demonstrates its mechanical abilities with an exhibit dial.
