About the Breitling Chronomat Collection
The Breitling Chronomat, initially launched in 1941, has a rich history rooted in aviation. Originally created during World War II, it featured a revolutionary rotating bezel with a logarithmic scale. This pioneering model laid the foundation for future aviation watches. After a hiatus post-war, the Chronomat resurfaced in 1969 with an automatic chronograph movement and in 1984, it was reintroduced with distinctive rider tabs on its bezel, designed for pilots, coinciding with Breitling's centenary.
Design And Features
The design of the Breitling Chronomat has evolved from early models that had slide rule bezels and two sub-dials to modern versions that now have three sub-dials. The dials come in colours like black, blue, white, and even rare green and yellow. Case sizes vary, with current options in 28mm, 32mm, 36mm, and 42mm. Materials include stainless steel, gold, and two-tone combinations. The 2020 redesign incorporates “Rouleaux” bracelets and offers interchangeable rider tabs for versatility. The design of these Breitling watches remains functional with a strong visual identity, combining classic elements with contemporary features.
Notable Iterations
The Chronomat collection includes several distinct watches for men and women. The Chronomat B01 42 features a quintessential tricompax dial. On the other hand, the Super Chronomat range, which includes the Super Chronomat B01 44 and the Super Chronomat 44 Four-Year Calendar, is known for its larger size and durable ceramic bezels. The Four-Year Calendar model uniquely integrates a chronograph with a calendar, while the Chronomat GMT offers a dual-time function with a 24-hour scale. For those preferring smaller sizes, the Chronomat Automatic 36, Chronomat 32 and Chronomat 28 makes for compact options. Breitling's Chronomat line features a range of limited edition watches for women and men, like the Chronomat 36 Victoria Beckham, Chronomat B01 42 Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Six Nations series and more, adding a touch of luxury and exclusivity to the collection.

Boasting a 42-hour power reserve, it operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, powered by 38 jewels. One of its standout features is the 18k red gold rotor, engraved with a miniature of the Montbrillant Manufactory, symbolising Breitling's heritage. The B19 calibre drives watches in notable collections such as the Super Chronomat, Montbrillant, Navitimer, and more.
