The Chronometry Longitude Titanium by Arnold & Son is a masterful fusion of precision, maritime heritage, and contemporary aesthetics. Paying homage to the art of navigation, this timepiece embodies the spirit of exploration that shaped the history of chronometry. Encased in lightweight grade five titanium, the 42.5 mm features a satin-finished bezel, offering a modern and robust design. The standout element of this watch is its fern green dial, enhanced with a PVD treatment and overlaid with a finely rendered longitude grid motif, reminiscent of navigational charts. Adding to its maritime identity, the base of the bezel – akin to a ship’s rail – features 60 precise notches, a modern interpretation of the fluted rings found in John Arnold’s historical marine chronometers. The applied hour markers and rhodium-plated hands provide exceptional clarity, while the open-worked small seconds subdial at six o’clock and power reserve at 12 o’clock adds depth and elegance to the design. Powering the watch is the A&S6302 manual-winding calibre, boasting an impressive 60-hour power reserve. The movement is a testament to Arnold & Son’s craftsmanship, with hand-polished chamfers, Geneva stripes, and a skeletonised balance bridge visible through the sapphire case back. Paired with titanium, the watch is water-resistant to 100 metres, seamlessly combining functionality and style.

About the Arnold & Son Longitude Collection
Arnold & Son, renowned for their pivotal role in maritime history, have once again reaffirmed their legacy by embarking on a new chapter with the Longitude collection. Introducing their first dedicated sports watch series, each timepiece in the Longitude collection is an embodiment of the brand's deep nautical roots. They reflect the precision and reliability that John Arnold once provided to seafarers through marine chronometers to navigate the treacherous oceans.
Launched at Watches and Wonders 2024, the Longitude marks a first for the brand in its use of titanium, a material known for its resilience, lightweight properties, and corrosion resistance. This choice enhances the watch's functionality, making it a true performance timepiece as does its COSC-certified movement that ensures high accuracy.
Design And Features
These Arnold & Son watches for men are rife with maritime and historical nods. The case of the Longitude series is inspired by the sleek design of modern sailing boats. Its profile mirrors the streamlined form of a ship's waterline, while the caseback is reminiscent of a boat's keel. The bezel, with its 60 notches, is a nod to the graduated ring of Arnold's original marine chronometers. The watch's case also features a blend of polished and satin finishes, enhancing its nautical theme.
The dial of these Arnold & Son watches, inspired by the coastal landscapes of Cornwall, Arnold's birthplace, offers a palette of colours that evoke the sea and land. From the deep ocean blue to the verdant fern green and the exclusive sandy-toned Kingsand gold, each dial variant captures the essence of nature. Complementing the dial is a precisely crafted and applied hour indices coated with Super-LumiNova, along with the vertically aligned small seconds and power reserve counters.
Finally, the movement's oscillating weight, reminiscent of an 18th-century English frigate's prow, ties the timepiece back to its maritime roots, while the engraved felloe adds a touch of historical authenticity.

ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
A rich blend of mechanical precision, superior craftsmanship, and heritage-inspired details renders Arnold & Son's 2024-released calibre A&S6302 an exceptional movement created exclusively for the new Longitude watches. Entirely developed in-house at the maison's Manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, A&S6302 is a COSC-certified automatic movement operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour. It features a large barrel that allows up to 60 hours of running autonomy to accurately power hours, minutes, small seconds, and power reserve indications.
Visible through the caseback, the movement is finished impeccably to haute horlogerie standards featuring chamfered bridges, the house’s signature Rayons de la Gloire motif, circular graining on the mainplate, sunburst brushing, and blued screws. Additionally, it bears a distinctively shaped skeletonised rotor made from a single block of red gold. Its design has a maritime undertone, inspired by the shape of the prow of an 18th-century English frigate. It is also engraved with graduations that mirror the pattern found on sextants.
