About the Arnold & Son Eight-Day Collection
History
With a long-drawn tradition of manufacturing marine chronometers, Arnold & Son distinguished itself as a potent watchmaker. Celebrating its marine legacy, Arnold & Son decided to launch the Eight-Day collection in 2016.
Design & Features
The mechanical acumen takes a step back in this collection and a clean, clear and smartly assembled dial takes charge. This collection boasts a rather composed approach to Arnold & Son's ideology of crafting complicated timepieces. The design of the Arnold & Son Eight-Day collection is directly inspired by the marine chronometers crafted by John Arnold for the Royal Navy. Similarities such as the power reserve indicator at 12 o'clock and the small second's dial at 6 o'clock are directly taken from the centuries-old chronometers offered to the Royal Navy. Enclosed in a 43mm wide steel case, the Arnold & Son Eight-Day collection offers up to 30 meters of water-resistant. The Arnold & Son Eight-Day collection is more than just a marine chronometer as the dial is engraved in a guilloche pattern. This pattern provides it with a distinct look.
Movement
An in-house movement, the Arnold & Son Eight-Day collection was named after the movement's capability of holding a power reserve of up to 8 days. The collection is fitted with an A&S1016 manual winding calibre. This calibre has a power reserve of 192 hours and beats at 3Hz or 21,600vph.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
Known for crafting aesthetically pleasing timepieces by displaying uniquely and intricately crafted movements, Arnold & Son has deviated from the naked display of its movements and covered it with the veil of mechanical prowess. The Arnold & Son Eight-Day is a timepiece that offers the benefits of a perfect dress watch with vigorous mechanical capabilities. Inside the Eight-Day is A&S1016 manual-winding movement. This movement is special because of the power reserve it offers. A whopping reserve of approximately 192 hours that translates to approximately 8 days, thus the name Eight-Day. The A&S1016 offers this while preserving its accuracy with a vibrating frequency of 21,600vph.
