About the Arnold & Son DSTB Collection
History
After the successes of DBG and DBS, Arnold & Son released the DSTB collection in 2015. DSTB, an acronym for “Dial Side True Beat”, is a mechanical timepiece with true beats feature. Historically, Arnold & Son is known for creating marine chronometers which were linked with the true beat feature. By launching the CTB and DSTB, Arnold & Son became one of the first modern watchmakers to perfect the true beat diorama.
Design
Following the long-drawn design philosophy of crafting intricately designed timepieces, the Arnold & Son DSTB collection is fitted inside a polished round case. The elegant round case is complemented by a hand-stitched alligator leather strap. Whereas, the dial of the DSTB collection is white lacquered fitted over a NAC grey treated main plate for the DSTB Gold and white lacquered dial fitted over a blue snailed main plate for the stainless steel variant.
Features
A dial that resembles simplicity is actually equipped with a complication that sets itself apart from the crowd. Christened the True Beat complication, the complication lets the second hand tick instead of sweep. Quite a few times this feature is also called the ‘dead seconds’ and it reflects the technical and aesthetical acumen of Arnold & Son. On the dial, the Arnold & Son DTSB dons the true beat mechanism with a separate display that focuses on the second hand. Whereas, the hours and minutes hand are complacently placed on the 4 o’clock sector. The movement is fitted inside a 44mm case made with either 18k red gold or stainless steel. Each and every section of the dial has been provided with the meticulous touch of the watchmakers. Further complementing the dial is the nautical icon that joins the bridge between the Arnold & Son logo. Equipped with the in-house manufactured movement, the A&S6003 is an automatically winding calibre.
