Messika - Disrupting Diamonds Since 2005
Rewriting the rules of luxury jewellery, Messika has evolved as a brand that combines the timelessness of a diamond with a modern touch. This has been ingrained in the founder Valérie Messika since her childhood. Born in a family of diamond merchants, Valérie’s affection for luxury jewellery took its shape while developing a passion for the trade. According to Valérie, an original piece of jewellery is the star of any outfit, attracting attention and intrigue. Following this philosophy, Messika has gained international recognition for its minimalistic yet evocative designs that lend bold confidence to anyone who flaunts them. With modern, inventive creations, Messika has the power to not intimidate or overpower but amalgamate itself into the personality of a soul. Unlike many brands, Messika is relatively new to the front and very well understands the needs of a modern mindset. From contemporary pieces to high jewellery, the versatility of Messika ensures that there is a piece for any occasion.
The Roots
Started in 2005, Messika was founded in the ‘City of Love’, Paris and was built upon the core values of enhancing the diamond, pushing the boundaries, and striving continuously for excellence. Maison Messika is about crafting unique pieces of jewellery while keeping in mind the virtues of imagination and creativity. This ideology was perfectly reflected in the first collection launched by the maison, the Skinny. Since then, Messika has expanded horizons and established itself as a renowned advocate of balanced proportions of minimalism and elegance in the world of luxury jewellery.
The Collections
In 2007 Messika launched one of their most emblematic creations – the Move bracelet. The design with three splendid diamonds floating around in a golden cage came as a revelation, presenting a diamond bracelet in a unique, never-seen-before form. Since then, Move has become the linchpin of the house, serving as a source of inspiration for umpteen other lines, such as Move Uno, Move Classique, Move Joaillerie, Move 10th Anniversary, and Move Addiction. Drawing from the success of each of these lines, the maison introduced the Move Titanium for men in 2016 – the signature Move bracelet with three diamonds in a cage, only it was rendered in titanium to give it an everyday appeal.
The Messika jewellery is crafted from gold and other precious metals and is adorned with precious and semi-precious gemstones, such as diamonds, emeralds, rubies, malachite and turquoise.
The Collaborations
Highlighting the different traits of feminine characters, Messika has collaborated with various iconic women that perfectly endow the idea of the brand. A few of these personalities are Gigi Hadid, Kate Moss, Selena Gomez, and Beyonce. One such collaboration worth mentioning is the Messika by Kate Moss. Placed under the coveted High Jewellery range, the collection is eclectic and vibrant housing jewellery pieces that feature a variety of gold, unique utilisation of precious materials, and appealing diamond cuts. It also features a play on Kate’s favourite colour, green. The pieces in the collection exhibit a beautiful union of Kate’s style and Messika’s design ingenuity. It’s created for women who transcend style and connect to the notion of relaxed luxury.
