Backdrop
Jacob & Co. was founded by Jacob Arabo, a Soviet national who immigrated to the US in the 1970s. When Jacob was 13, he was gifted a watch by his father, Nison Arabov. This watch provided Jacob with a passion for horology. Jacob decided to launch the Jacob & Co. The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone collection to pay a warm tribute to his roots.
Features
The watch that was gifted to Jacob by his father was a rare and once-famous Wakmann. A timepiece with two independent timezones, the Wakmann also displayed a world map on the dial. The two sub-dials display time in both Roman and Arabic numerals. The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone is based on the same timepiece with an added touch of Jacob & Co. Housing a fine dial, The World Is Yours features a sky view of the Western hemisphere made with a high-precision laser. The surface of the timepiece is made using a purpose-built, high-accuracy mould. Similar to the Wakmann, the timepiece displays two sub-dials and a small sub-dial in the middle displaying a running seconds made in the shape of a wind rose. Fitted inside a curved case, the 43mm timepiece is made of rose gold and features the world map on the case back.
Movement
The original Wakmann watch that was gifted to Jacob was a practical and genuine timepiece with a reliable movement. The Jacob & Co. The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone features a movement based on the original watch with modern touches. Called the JCAA11, the manual-winding movement features a power reserve of approximately 42 hours while vibrating at 28,800 vph.
