History
Runabouts are small motorboats that were popular during the 1920s. These boats attained legendary status with brilliant craftsmanship and timeless designs. In order to preserve these boats, the Riva Historical Society was created by Mr Carlo Riva. In 2009, Frederique Constant decided to join hands with the Riva Historical Society and decided to promote the legacy of Runabouts with their limited edition timepieces. Since 2009, the Frederique Constant Runabout collection is released with an update every year.
Features
The Frederique Constant Runabout collection is home to two series, the Runabout Automatic and the Runabout Chronograph Automatic. To begin with, the Runabout collection takes its inspiration from the legendary boats by providing the timepieces under the collection with a polished case similar to the Runabout’s polished hull. Apart from the case, the case back is engraved with the Riva Historical Society’s logo. All the timepieces in the collection are delivered with a miniature replica of a Runabout yacht made with wood. Starting from the Runabout Automatic, the timepiece is fitted with a date window at the 6 o’clock marker and a guilloche dial with Arabic numerals. The other series inside the Runabout collection is the Runabout Chronograph Automatic. The Runabout Chronograph is equipped with three sub-dials. The sub-dials at 12, 6, and 9 o’clock marker measure minute, hour, and seconds, respectively.
Movements
The Runabout Automatic is equipped with the FC-303 calibre that provides a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. Whereas, the Runabout Chronograph Automatic is equipped with the FC-392 calibre providing a power reserve of approximately 55 hours.
