Top Time - The Chrono Way Of Life
Launched in 1964, the Breitling Top Time collection was crafted for the young blood. The collection was affordable, sportier, and followed a contemporary philosophy. Be it the monocoque construction or the utilitarian DNA, the Top Time is a robust and rugged collection of timepieces. Since the launch of the collection, Top Time has garnered enthusiasm from both the youth and ardent horologists alike. Since the 1960s, Top Time has curated to souls with a penchant for broadening their horizons. Even today, the collection is about finding new avenues inside its timekeeping abilities.
Shelby Cobra
“There's a point at 7,000 RPM... where everything fades. The machine becomes weightless. Just disappears. And all that's left is a body moving through space and time. 7,000 RPM. That's where you meet it.” —Carroll Shelby. Shelby was a man of his word, a craftsman with an eye for excellence. Defying the cult status of the Italians, and the invincibility of the Americans, Shelby singlehandedly tackled the hurdles. If it weren’t for the legendary muscle car Mustang wouldn’t have that tag under its name. The Shelby Cobra is a fitting example of Carroll Shelby’s mechanical prowess. The Breitling Top Time Shelby Cobra is a homage to the American sports car. With a blue dial and white tachymeter, the colour scheme is similar to the original Shelby Cobra. Whereas, the ‘Cobra’ logo over the 6 o’clock marker depicts the legacy of that sports car. The Top Time Shelby Cobra is fitted with a COSC-certified calibre, the Breitling 41.
Triumph
In a bid to celebrate the free-spirited, Breitling decided to partner with Triumph. A British motorcycle manufacturer, Triumph has a special place among motorcycle enthusiasts. From being the progeny of the cafe racing movement to surviving the Japanese superbikes onslaught, Triumph has provided gentlemen with a graceful mechanical companion. Motorcycling is about living in the moment, the freedom, the adventure. This is what Triumph celebrates and what the Breitling Top Time collection is about. The Top Time Triumph is equipped with an ice-blue dial with a ‘Zorro’ motif depicting the mask of Zorro. The Top Time Triumph takes its inspiration from the 1951 Blue Triumph Thunderbird 6T. A Triumph logo is fixed over the 6 o’clock marker. Further cementing the relationship between the watchmakers and motorcycle manufacturers, Triumph launched the much-anticipated Speed Twin Breitling limited edition motorcycle. These British motorcycles were limited to just 270 pieces.
The Other Top-Timers
Apart from the Triumph and the Shelby Cobra edition, the Top Time also features collaborations such as the Ford Mustang, Ford Thunderbird, the Chevrolet Corvette, and Deus. The Breitling Top Time Ford Mustang edition features a Mustang pony under the Breitling logo. Similarly, the Breitling Top Time Chevrolet Corvette features a Corvette insignia under the Breitling logo. The Breitling Top Time Deus is made in collaboration with the Australian lifestyle brand, Deus Ex Machina. The case back in the Top Time Deus is engraved with a retro rally motorcyclist designed by Deus’s creative director Carby Tuckwell.
