About the Omega Constellation Collection
History
The Omega Constellation collection was launched in 1952 and has since been renowned for its ultra-precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the brand launched Constellation "Manhattan" which saw the introduction of the claws or "griffes" on the bezel, now, an iconic element of the Constellation watch.
The Constellation
Constellation's journey began when it was introduced as a chronometer wristwatch, a testament to Omega's commitment to precision timekeeping. Delving into the design nuances of the Constellation collection reveals the distinctive claws grasping the bezel—a hallmark of its visual appeal, creating a unique and timeless aesthetic. The collection has embraced diverse metals and design variations. Adorned in stainless steel or opulent gold, there are timepieces within the collection which are also encrusted with diamonds. Even after many decades, Constellation watches continue to capture the hearts of watch enthusiasts worldwide.
The Globemaster
Chronometers are timepieces that are tested under certain conditions and after passing that certification, a timepiece is awarded the designation of a chronometer. In 2014, Omega and the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) came up with a new certification process. The Omega Globemaster became the world’s first watch to be tested under this certification and was awarded the designation of a Master Chronometer. Since then, the Globemaster series has adorned the Constellation collection with finesse. Be it the fluted bezel or the dial design from the original Constellation, the Globemaster in all its essence is a true masterpiece. The legendary Constellation collection is home to Omega Globemaster Annual Calendar, which eccentrically displays the month markers between the indexes on a pie-pan dial.
