Omega was first established in 1848 by Louis Brandt. In a short span of time the brand attained great popularity and fame from various watch connoisseurs and collectors. Its Constellation Collection was launched in the mid 20th century and revamped in 2009, incorporating bold designs and innovative mechanisms.
The Omega Constellation 220.127.116.11.02.004 for men features a round, silver dial. This timepiece features gold indexes and white stick style hands intricately outlined in gold. The dial is protected by the scratch-resistant and anti-reflective sapphire crystal. Being glareproof the crystal allows you to read time easily even in harsh sunlight. The transparent caseback is made of the same material and the date window is positioned at 3 o'clock. It features a white background outlined in gold. A bezel is mounted upon a 38 mm, stainless steel case. The bezel is engraved with Roman numerals and also features the distinctive “griffes” or claws in 18 carat gold, which is characteristic only to the Constellation Series. A matching bracelet is equipped with a deployment clasp that is thoroughly tested for safety.
The watch is driven by an Omega caliber 8500 self-winding automatic movement. It regulates time by harnessing energy from the wrist movements of the wearer. Its Co-Axial Escapement makes this timekeeper extremely accurate and also lengthens its durability. A free-sprung balance system and silicon balance spring shields the timepiece from damage against shocks and pressure differences. The bidirectional winding screw reduces winding time. A Rhodium plated finish with Geneva waves in Arabesque render this timepiece with elegance and style. It has a power reserve of 60 hours and is water-resistant to a depth of 100 metres.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
