Called Schulp & Co. before its present-day name, Rado was founded in the year 1917, at Lengnau. In its initial days, the Swiss firm only focussed on the production of watch movements. Gradually, in the year 1957, it brought out its first-ever watch collection under the prestigious brand name. In 1968, the watch brand joined the ASUAG, which then came together with SSIH to form the SMH group, presently known as the Swatch Group. Matthias Breschan is the current CEO of this world-renowned watch-making firm.
Belonging to the Integral collection, the R20787762 model by Rado is a minimalistic designed, but stunning-looking timepiece. Its slim profile lends it a feminine charm not found in any other watch. Designed in a dual tone black and gold combination, this remarkable Rado watch is classic timepiece from this well-known watch-making brand. Made of quality stainless steel, it features a 27mm rectangular case, coated with yellow gold, with a black clockface that has gold polished hour, minute and seconds hands adorning it. Giving them company and acting as hour-makers are Roman numerals for the sixth and twelfth hours, and two diamonds set at the third and ninth hours.
Imitating the case, the bracelet, with its strong black ceramic link design and yellow gold coating, is a continuation of the dual tone design and renders the timepiece with a smooth appearance against the wrist.
A state-of-the-art quartz movement controls the hands for a smooth and precise movement. The finely polished hands not only render ease of readability, but also give a great style appeal. It is water-resistant to a depth of about 30m, and functions normally even after encountering light liquid spills and water splashes. On the other hand, the sapphire crystal lens over the clockface safeguards it from external wear and tear.
Rado was formed in 1917 as, Schlup and Co., which produced watch movements only. With the launch of its collection of watches in 1957, under the name Rado, it amazed the world with its innovations. Today with 470 skilled workers the brand produces half million watches every year.
First produced in 1986, the Rado Integral was the first Rado watch in high-tech ceramic. A revolution in the watchmaking industry, it fuses the purity of graphic linearity with the finesse of high technology, seamlessly integrating a metallised sapphire crystal, case and bracelet within parallel lines. This new collection remains true to the original but is new for 2014.
Rado has won the Good Design Award for its innovative Hyperchrome Ceramic Touch in 2013 and 2014 by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.
