Design
The Panerai Pam00423 Luminor 1950 for men, expresses an exquisite blend of vintage design and contemporary technology. This timepiece features a 47mm AISI 36L polished case entirely fashioned out of stainless steel. The silver polished steel bezel encapsulates a black dial, giving the watch a remarkable touch of simplicity. Luminous Arabic numerals and hour indexes engraved on the dial increase the dial readability. Baton arms, with a luminous fill, adorn the face of the dial with a radiant display. Adding to the security of the crown, there is a silver drawbridge (protecting as a trade mark)m, which needs to be pulled before reaching out to the crown for the dial calibration.
For extreme wrist comfort, a Panerai personalised leather strap with a brushed steel buckle is provided. This timepiece is also supplied with a second interchangeable strap, and a steel screwdriver for a ready replacement.

Features
Featuring a huge power reserve, the Panerai PAM00423 Luminor 1950 can run for 3 days when fully wound. The hand wound mechanical movement, powered by Panerai P.3002 calibre, sets the timepiece apart in terms of high-end performance. Being water resistant to an extent of 100 metres, this timepiece is ideal for swimming. The 3mm thick anti-reflective Sapphire Crystal renders the dial with increased readability, while protecting it from scratches and damage. Apart from displaying hours and minutes, this timepiece comes with 2 sub dials; a power reserve indicator between the 4 o’ clock and 5 o’ clock position, and a small second’s counter located at the 9 o’ clock position of the dial.

Interesting Facts
The design of the Panerai Luminor 1950 was inspired from a rare, iconic classical watch known for its rounding of the cusps around the case band. After the discovery of Radiomir luminous case, this watch personifies every detail of transformation in design ever since its beginning in the 1940s, from Radiomir to Luminor.

Design
Officine Panerai time pieces are famed for their classic case backs and uncommon case designs. The Luminor 1950 case style is highly revered due to the vintage effect it derives from having the case side swept back gracefully. Some of the Luminor 1950 models are reminiscent of the vintage acrylic crystals as they display a unique dome shape crystal for their case style. The Luminor models appear with gentler curves whereas the Luminor 1950 timepieces ar familiarly straight edged. The models are available in two sizes: 44 mm and 47 mm and are styled for large wrists. The crown protecting device used to keep the crown free of damage and water is a Panerai Luminor identifier.

Officine Panerai developed the Luminor as the heir to the earlier successful Radiomir watches. The Luminor watches were more innovative and practical in design, with respect to strap attachment. The case shape was slightly altered to look sleeker, away from its older cushion shaped look. The design of the Luminor 1950 is special in the nature that it is inspired by the historic Radiomir, famous for its pronounced rounding of the case-band cusps, and this detail marks the stage in the transformation which occurred in the 1940s from the iconic Radiomir cushion shaped case to that of the Luminor. The PAM00423 honors that lineage of Luminors, and its P.3002 calibre is housed in a large 47mm polished steel case with a trademarked crown protecting device. Its black dial is marked by the extremely recognizable luminous 12, 3 and 6 hourly Arabic numerals with a small seconds dial replacing 9 o’clock. In addition to the linear hour markers, it has an asymmetrical 3 day power reserve indicator at 4 o'clock.
