History
The Rado brand traces its ancestry to a small clockwork factory Schlup & Company, established in Lengnau, a small town in Switzerland, in 1917. They primarily manufactured clock movements only, later switching to timepieces under the brand name Rado, which was acquired in 1957. The brand launched the world’s first ever scratch-resistant watch, Rado DiaStar, in 1962. This range is still manufactured and sold under the name DiaStar The Original. The Rado brand specializes in the field of utilizing scratch-proof materials for its watches. About half a million watches, equipped with innovatively used high tech materials and featuring exceptional designs, are manufactured annually by this brand.
