Rado

History
A small clockwork factory called the Schlup and Company was established in Lengnau in Switzerland by three brothers- Fritz, Ernst and Werner. Initially, the factory manufactured watch-works. Gradually, guided by the rapid advance of technology, the factory launched its first line of watches in 1957, under the brand name ‘Rado’. This is how the family business was transformed into Rado Uhren A.G. In 1968, the ASUAG acquired the company. A few years later, the ASUAG became a part of the SMH Group. 1998 onwards, this company has been known as the Swatch Group.
Rado based itself upon a foundation of technological innovations. They revolutionised the traditional industry by introducing into the arena of watchmaking materials like ceramics, hardmetal, lanthanum and sapphire crystal. In 1962, the company launched the world’s first range of scratch proof watches, the Rado DiaStar. The line continues to sell even now. 2004 saw the company being awarded the credit for having manufactured the V10K, the hardest watch on earth. Rado’s tradition of innovating technology thus still persists.

Design
