About the Panerai Submersible Collection

The Panerai Submersible collection draws inspiration from the historic diving watches created for the Royal Italian Navy during World War II. Officially launched as a distinct line in 2019, the Submersible broke away from the Luminor collection. Building upon the legacy of Radiomir and Luminor models, the Submersible continues to push the boundaries of underwater timekeeping, offering a blend of functionality and iconic design. The Submersible's robust build and innovative features make it a standout in Panerai's lineup, appealing to both professional divers and watch enthusiasts. The ability to blend historical significance with modern advancements ensures that the Panerai Submersible remains a timeless piece in the world of luxury dive watches.

Features

Dedicated to the needs of divers, the Submersible collection upholds Panerai's long tradition of creating combat diving watches. A defining feature of the Submersible is its unidirectional rotating bezel with a graduated scale, a crucial tool for measuring dive times. The hour and minute hands along with the markers are filled with luminescent material, ensuring exceptional visibility in low-light conditions and underwater environments. This luminescence is vital for divers who rely on clear readability during underwater excursions. Most models in the Submersible collection are equipped with a small seconds sub-dial at nine o’clock and a date window at three o’clock, adding to the watch’s practicality.

Design

The Panerai Submersible retains the brand's signature elements such as the cushion-shaped case, the distinctive crown guard, and the sturdy lugs, all of which are hallmarks of Panerai's design language. What sets the Submersible apart from the Radiomir and Luminor models is its bezel, featuring minute markers that enhance its functionality for divers. The design of the Submersible is heavily influenced by the Radiomir watches produced in the 1950s for the Royal Italian Navy, combining vintage aesthetics with modern technology to meet contemporary diving standards.

ABOUT THE MOVEMENT

The P.9100 calibre is the inaugural automatic movement with chronograph functions created by Officine Panerai, crafted entirely in their Neuchâtel manufacture. Renowned for its cutting-edge technology, superior quality, and robust reliability, this calibre includes a chronograph mechanism featuring a vertical clutch and column wheel. Notably, the chronograph minutes are indicated by a central hand that advances every 60 seconds. It also incorporates a useful flyback function. This sophisticated movement is integrated into several Luminor and Submersible models.
