About the Panerai Radiomir Collection
History
Panerai Radiomir collection is widely touted to have the richest history and is the signature collection of Panerai. Made in a collaboration with the Italian Royal Navy’s Lieutenant Commander Carlo Ronconi, the Panerai Radiomir was documented in a patent filed in 1916. It wasn’t until 1936 that the first Radiomir was born.
Design & Features
The styling of the case carries an authentic vintage aura with its curved and rounded appearance. Unlike the Luminor models that sport a patented crown protecting device, the Panerai Radiomir watches contain wire lugs, a unique design that connects the straps to the case. With hand-wound mechanical or automatic mechanical movements topped with an anti-reflective, scratch-proof Sapphire Crystal, the Panerai Radiomir collection is available in various dial sizes ranging from 42mm to 48mm. In a few timepieces under the collection, the small second's feature is studded at the 9 o’clock marker.
Events
An unimaginable 1 million euros were made as proceeds and two world records broken by individual vintage Panerai models on 8th December 2014 in the ‘Panerai only’ auction organized by the well-known Artcurial auction house for Officine Panerai. The Panerai models that broke all records were the extremely rare ‘Radiomir Egiziano’, a diver’s watch made in the year 1956 for the Egyptian Navy and a Special Edition Radiomir PAM00021, crafted in platinum in 1997 with a case design similar to the Panerai models made for the Royal Italian Navy in 1938.

The Panerai Radiomir Black Seal Ceramica not only shares the same design as the Officine Panerai Original, but also evokes the same stance and passion. Called after the “black seals”, special techniques employed in the 1930s by the Gamma group of the Royal Italian Navy, this watch looks the part. It has a new modernized 45mm ceramic case, as a result of material experimentation. Thus the end product is not only lightweight, but is as tough as its name suggests. Its in-house OP XI caliber is housed in a case which is nigh impregnable in addition to its ceramic winding conical crown and a stainless steel screwed-on case-back. The black dial matches the special black coating of the case and has luminous Arabic numerals and hour markers. It has a small seconds dial at 9 o'clock.

Panerai launched it’s Radiomir collection during the WWII for Italian Navy. The major objective of Radiomir watch was to provide best possible readability even in extreme situation. Additionally, the use of ceramic for watch case, not only makes it lightweight, but also provide hardness and resistance from extreme situation. The iconic semi-circular 45mm case of Radiomir has hard ceramic black coating along with pyramidal shape ceramic crown, which provides better grip of the crown. Use of zinc sulfur, radium bromide as luminescence for the index hands have been introduced by Panerai Radiomir, which gives time visibility at any extreme conditions. Front glass has a sapphire crystal cover with anti-reflective coating, water resistance has upto 100 meters. The unique amalgamation between innovation and haute horology is one of the major reason for increasing demand of Italian Panerai, in world of Swiss domination.

Panerai Radiomir or you call it the black seal is the bold statement in watchmaking. Made with zirconium oxide 45 mm case and sapphire glass, give's it a sold finish and long lasting durability. It's strong, stable and can tolerate high pressures and temperatures without any corrosion. It's perfect for making a statement with a black tuxedo. The impression would last long, but the watch would last longer to create many such impressions. The Black Seal is simply gorgeous.

A product of the esteemed Panerai brand, this black beauty is one of its class. Right from the black dial with large markings, the black ceramic casing, to the black leather strap...everything about this watch is black and exudes a vibe of elegance and opulence. The tiny seconds hand dial renders a chic look to this otherwise formal watch. While this timepiece can go with formal suits ,it best complements a party wear. The automatic movement, while being every watch lover's cherished desire, adds to the price tag which is a bit heavy. However,it goes without saying that this watch will be a proud possession of any watch-alcoholic who can afford it.
