About the Omega De Ville Collection
History
Since its launch in 1967, the Omega De Ville Collection has been synonymous with modern elegance and fashion. This collection has been a major example of the avant-garde watch-making technology used by the brand. The first watch to be equipped with the exclusive Omega Co-Axial escapement in 1999 was a De Ville. This stylish collection of watches for gentlemen and ladies has been further enhanced in its several series – Ladymatic, Prestige and Trésor. The renowned Tourbillon is also under the De Ville Collection.
The Ladymatic
Launched in 1955, the Ladymatic series features the smallest automatic movement made by Omega and was one of the first self-winding watches to be made exclusively for women by the brand. The Ladymatics are equipped with polished or snow-set diamond-paved bezels, defining feminine elegance and grace. While retaining its opulent elegance, the Ladymatic features a date window at the 3 o'clock marker. These windows are absent in some of the timepieces, especially in the luxury editions. Be it the diamond-studded index markers or the mother-of-pearl dials, the timepieces exude elegance.
The Tresor
In the midst of crafting timepieces, Omega has kept the thunderous silhouette of keeping its identity alive. Creating the simplest timepieces with admirable elegance, the Tresor series defines the heart and soul of premium watchmaking. Be it the clean dials or sword hands, the series fits the bill of ‘less is more'. For women, the timepieces feature a unique bezel studded with diamonds. For men, the Master Chronometers feature complications such as power reserve indicators and small seconds.
The Prestige
The Prestige collection features watch with timeless and elegant designs for men and women. Featuring classic designs and innovative watchmaking, the Co-axial timepieces contain robust movement with minimalistic designs. With beautiful aesthetics and enchanting designs, the Prestige Butterfly showcases spectacular butterfly-patterned dials and satin-brushed leather straps as well as dual-tone bracelets.
The Tourbillon
In a bid to raise the stakes in the watchmaking industry, Omega decided to pull off the world's first timepiece with a centrally mounted tourbillon. Crafted intricately by the hands of Swiss watchmakers, the DeVille Tourbillon series is a true embodiment of Swiss watchmaking. One limited edition timepiece features 170 baguette-cut diamonds and 289 single-cut diamonds.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
Omega's calibre 2500 is a notable movement in the brand's history. Introduced in 1999, it was the first Omega movement to feature the Co-Axial escapement, developed by renowned watchmaker George Daniels. This technology significantly reduces friction in the movement, improving accuracy, and longevity. The calibre 2500 is based on the ETA 2892-A2, a well-respected automatic movement, but with Omega’s enhancements. It operates at 25,200vph, a slight adjustment from the standard 28,800 vph, optimising it for the Co-Axial escapement. Over the years, the movement underwent various improvements, resulting in different versions such as 2500A, 2500B, 2500C, and the most refined, 2500D. This movement has been used in several Omega collections, including the Constellation, Seamaster and De Ville, contributing to Omega’s reputation for precision and innovation.
