Launched in 2018, the Nomos Glashütte Autobahn collection is a dynamic and contemporary series inspired by the curves and velocity of Germany’s famed highways, the Autobahn. The collection, designed in collaboration with Werner Aisslinger, reflects the spirit of speed and freedom, encapsulating a bold, sporty character while maintaining the minimalist DNA Nomos are known for. The Autobahn’s inspiration stems from the thrill of the open road, with its dial design mimicking a car’s speedometer and emphasising fluid, clean lines to evoke the sensation of motion.

Design And Aesthetics

The Autobahn collection's design immediately sets it apart within the Nomos lineup, embracing a daring, automotive-inspired aesthetic. Its curved dial edges and prominent luminous arc draw inspiration from the dashboards of vintage cars, with elongated markers that evoke a speedometer's sweep. The large date window, positioned at six o’clock, ensures readability and adds a practical touch to the bold dial. Available in striking colours like sports grey, midnight blue, and white, the Autobahn projects a sense of modernity and movement. The recessed small-second sub-dial enhances depth while maintaining the brand's minimalist elegance.

Movements And Iterations

Powered by the DUW 6101 calibre, an in-house automatic movement from Nomos, the Autobahn collection is not only visually distinctive but also mechanically impressive. The DUW 6101 features a quick-set date complication that allows for easy adjustments. Despite its complex functions, the movement is remarkably slim, allowing the watches to maintain a sleek silhouette. It equips the watches with a power reserve of up to 42 hours.

The Autobahn collection offers several colourways, each catering to a range of tastes while staying true to the central theme of speed and motion. The Autobahn Neomatik 41 Date models feature a 41mm case, striking a balance between sporty presence and wearability. All models boast 100 metres of water resistance, making them suitable for both daily wear and adventurous activities.
