About the Longines Conquest Collection
The Longines Conquest collection is one of the brand’s most enduring and versatile series, representing their commitment to performance and elegance since its debut in 1954. Originally designed to cater to athletes and explorers, the Conquest line was built to withstand the elements while maintaining a classic, stylish appearance. Over the decades, the collection has evolved, integrating modern technology and innovation while staying true to its robust roots. The Conquest series is popular with those seeking both sporty functionality and timeless aesthetics, and its various iterations reflect Longines’ mission to blend performance with sophisticated design.
Features And Design
The Conquest collection stands out for its functional yet refined watches typically featuring stainless steel cases, sometimes combined with ceramic or PVD coatings for a more contemporary touch. The sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating enhances legibility, while the screw-down crown and case back ensure water resistance, ranging from 100 to 300 metres depending on the model. Conquest watches often feature bold numerals and markers, along with luminous hands. In some models, a unidirectional rotating bezel and chronograph functions are incorporated, reflecting its sports watch DNA. The design focuses on durability without sacrificing style, combining sporty features with an understated elegance that appeals to both professional and casual settings. With case sizes ranging from 34mm to 43mm, the collection caters to a variety of preferences.
Iterations And Movements
The Conquest collection offers a wide range of models, including the Conquest Classic line, which focuses on elegance with more minimalist designs, as well as the Conquest V.H.P. (Very High Precision) series, which houses quartz movements with an exceptional level of accuracy. Most of the automatic models in the collection, such as the Conquest Automatic, are powered by calibre L888, an in-house movement based on the ETA A31.L11. Operating at 25,200 vibrations per hour, the L888 offers a 72-hour power reserve. The chronograph versions often feature the calibre L688, a column-wheel chronograph movement ensuring smooth operation.
