About the Graham Fortress Collection
The Graham Fortress collection draws specific inspiration from aviation history, particularly the era of World War II, where precision and durability were paramount for military equipment. Named after the legendary Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, the collection echoes the robustness and reliability of the aircraft that played a crucial role in aerial warfare. The Fortress line doesn’t merely take aesthetic cues from aviation; it channels the spirit of functionality and strength, making each timepiece a tribute to military engineering. Graham’s decision to equip the Fortress with a monopusher chronograph reinforces this connection, offering a streamlined approach to timekeeping that mirrors the efficiency demanded by pilots during combat missions.
Design And Features
The Graham Fortress stands out for its bold and unconventional design. At first glance, the monopusher chronograph feature, integrated within the crown on the left side of the case, is a striking element that breaks away from traditional chronograph design. This clever placement allows for an intuitive and clean user experience, streamlining the watch’s functionality without adding unnecessary complexity to its appearance. The dial, available in shades of black or shaded blue, maintains a military-inspired aesthetic with beige luminescent Arabic numerals and geometric hands. One of the notable features of the collection is the 47mm steel case, an imposing size that echoes the watch’s rugged, military-inspired origins.
The chronograph’s start/stop/reset button is coaxially positioned with the crown, making for a seamless and intuitive operation. Whether in black or blue, the dial configuration typically includes small seconds at three o’clock, a chronograph minute counter at six o’clock, and a date aperture at nine o’clock. Despite its bold dimensions, the Fortress offers a balanced and vintage military charm that appeals to watch enthusiasts who appreciate its functional elegance. On the reverse side, the movement is visible through a sapphire crystal case back, adding an extra layer of appreciation for its mechanical prowess. Paired with a hand-sewn calfskin strap, the Fortress is both functional and comfortable, completing the military-inspired design.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
Graham as a brand is known for its adventurous spirit. The very true spirit of Graham’s DNA is fitted inside the Fortress GMT. This monopusher GMT is fitted with Graham G1725 movement. The G1725 is an automatic movement that offers a power reserve of approximately 42 hours while vibrating at a frequency of 28,800 vph. What makes the G1725 movement is that can also display a second-time zone which is in itself a rarity in the arsenal of the brand. Apart from being a dual-timer, the G1725 is protected by the Incabloc shock absorber, a system that protects the movement from sudden shocks and accidents. Further solidifying the movement is the Chronofiable certification that improves the shock absorption capabilities of the movement.
