About the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Collection
The Laureato Beginnings
Back when the disco era was at its peak and the fashion was all about bright colours and bell-bottoms, the Swiss watchmaking industry was going through a tough phase called the ‘Quartz Crisis’. The quartz crisis was the era when mechanical watches were being overwhelmed with battery-powered watches. Among the Swiss watchmakers, Girard-Perregaux was the first one to incorporate quartz movements. The Girard-Perregaux Laureato collection was released in 1975 and became the first Swiss watchmaker to incorporate quartz movements. After releasing different iterations of the Laureato, the collection was given a break. The Laureato was reintroduced in 2016 and has served the brand’s ‘Athleisure’ side since then.
Laureato Absolute Chronograph Aston Martin F1 Edition
Performance has been a core principle while crafting timepieces for Girard-Perregaux. This principle is shared by an automobile manufacturer, Aston Martin. The collaboration between Aston Martin and Girard-Perregaux produced the Laureato Absolute Chronograph Aston Martin F1 Edition. This watch is equipped with a 44mm case made with Titanium powder and carbon elements that are taken from the F1 cars that participated in the 2021 Grand Prix. Every watch produced under this tag will be different from its predecessor as these watches are created with a high-tech manufacturing process where materials are brought together and mixed with a tinted resin.
Features
The Girard-Perregaux collection perfectly instils a sense of sportiness with elegance. Collectively, these types of timepieces are called Athleisure because they combine the athletic approach of a sports watch and the elegance of a dress watch. With its integrated bracelet and octagonal bezel, the Laureato collection lies perfectly on the wrist. The Laureato is available in 4 different case sizes such as 34mm,38mm, 42mm, and 44mm. The 44mm case size is named the ‘Absolute’ series because of its absolute imposing persona on the wrist. Whereas, the rest of the case sizes are just referred to as ‘Laureato’. The collection is also home to various features such as chronograph, date, flying tourbillon, skeleton dials, perpetual calendar, and small seconds. The collection is also home to some unique case materials such as carbon, carbon glass, and ceramic. Apart from these three materials, the Laureato is also available in stainless steel, pink gold, titanium, sapphire, and white gold.
