Frederique Constant Yacht Timer Regatta Countdown

History

Back in 1997, Frederique Constant released one unique watch, the Yacht Timer Regatta. This complication helped sailors countdown to the last 10 minutes that were critical to the Regatta communities. After 20 years of hiatus, the Frederique Constant Yacht Timer collection was again brought to life.

The Regatta Countdown

Sailing on a yacht is difficult and it becomes even more difficult when one needs to hold it in one position. In boat racing, the competitors need to hold their boats behind an imaginary line. The competitors are given 5 to 15 minutes to adjust their boats strategically. It is a tedious task and even though a normal watch can help keep track of these intervals, it is not feasible for racers to spend time figuring out time. To counter this, Frederique Constant came up with a rather intuitive way of displaying the countdown timer. With 5 small circles spread between the 10 and 2 o’clock marker, the Yacht Timer depicts every 5 minutes with changing colours. One can start and stop the timer with two pushers that are placed over and under the crown.

Movement

Inside the Frederique Constant Yacht Timer collection, the accurate timekeeping and the countdown timer are governed by the automatic FC-380 calibre. The FC-380 provides a power reserve of approximately 48 hours.
