About the Doxa SUB 300 Collection
History
There are brands that don their collaborations at the forefront but there are very few that can emphasize the utility of those collaborations. For Doxa, the utility and the collaboration are a part of a synchronized mechanism. In 1967, the Doxa SUB 300 was launched and in 1968 it acquired a legendary status when oceanographic researcher and filmmaker, Jaques-Yves Cousteau featured it in the series ‘The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau’. In 2020, Doxa decided to revive the SUB 300 and carry forward the legacy it created during the 60s.
Features
The Doxa SUB 300 collection is a reinterpretation of the 60s SUB 300. The reason behind creating the broad cushion-shaped case was to provide the watch with a streamlined approach to the wrists. This way, the watch was less susceptible to underwater obstacles whilst protecting the crown. Whereas, the proprietary two-toned bezel is a perfect partner for diving. The outer bezel denotes the diving depth and the inner dial depicts the time taken to reach that depth. A more of a tool than a watch, the utilitarian SUB 300 is also equipped with a date window at the 3 o’clock marker. The 42.5mm case is home to a unidirectional bezel and provides a water-resistance capability of up to 300 meters, thus the name SUB 300.
Movement
The Doxa SUB 300 is equipped with a COSC certified movement, the ETA 2824-2. With a power reserve of approximately 38 hours, the movement can provide accuracy up to -4/+6 seconds per day.
