About the Arnold & Son Globetrotter Collection
History
With a history of crafting marine chronometers and watches like DBG, it was quite evident for Arnold & Son to come up with a timepiece that can make one travel the world on their wrists. In 2018, Arnold & Son did the same by launching the first Globetrotter.
Design
A world time complication, the Arnold & Son Globetrotter is more like a breath of fresh air amongst the traditional world timers. Adding to the acumen and legacy of John Arnold’s marine chronometers for the British Navy, the Globetrotter collection is subjected to extreme intricacies such as a minutely finished globe or the bridge depicting the equator of the Earth. According to Bertrand Savary, President of Arnold & Son, “Inspired by John Arnold’s high-precision marine chronometers, the Globetrotter reimagines the world time function in a sculptural way. Held by a large central, arched bridge across the entire diameter of the dial, the three-dimensional terrestrial dome takes centre stage and is one of the world’s largest rotating world time displays on a wristwatch”.
Features
Enclosed in a 45mm case, the Arnold & Son Globetrotter is more of a boutique piece rather than being an everyday accessory. Inside the globe that steals the show, the landmasses are created by brass plates that are further sandblasted, polished and adequately printed on the dial—beautifully bringing out both the Northern and Southern sectors of the planet Earth. Diving deeper into the artistic complexity, the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans are produced by different shades of hand-painted blue lacquer that intricately depict our planet’s oceans. Whereas, with certain iterations such as the Globetrotter Night, the globe is crafted in shades of grey and blue citing the view of the Earth at night time.
Movement
Leaving the design complications behind, the real complication inside the Arnold & Son Globetrotter collection is the A&S6022 movement. The A&S6022 is a movement that is specifically designed for the Globetrotter collection. A self-winding movement with a power reserve of 45 hours.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
Biding by the throes of time, Arnold & Son has gone through brilliant changes from being a mere watch brand to a fully in-house watchmaking brand with astonishing achievements in the world of horology. One of these achievements is the Arnold & Son Globetrotter, a worldtimer that took the art of detailing to the next level. Running the Globetrotter is the A&S6022 automatic movement. Crafted in-house, the A&S6022 is fitted with a winding rotor that is decorated with the Clous de Paris guilloche pattern. This movement is perfected with mechanical specifications such as a power reserve of approximately 45 hours and a frequency of 28,800 vph.
