Backdrop
After the successful completion of the Chronopod and Duopod through Kickstarter campaigns, Ikepod decided to launch another campaign. This time, the brand decided to revive the iconic Megapode watch designed by Marc Newson during the 90s with the new Ikepod Megapod collection in 2020.
Features
With the typical DNA of Ikepod, Megapod features a smooth finish and clean lines. Minimalist and elegant, Megapod displays the time with three hands and is almost austere with the absence of a date window. Its 46mm UFO-shaped case sits perfectly on the wrist. In an attempt to add some new flavour to the collection, Ikepod has also added well-designed dials in Victor, Klara, and Gold Dots models.
Movement
The Ikepod Megapod collection is powered by automatic mechanical movement. The movements are procured by Japanese movement manufacturers, Miyota. Miyota offers a power reserve of approximately 42 hours while vibrating at 28,800 vph. The Megapod was the first mechanical watch offered by the brand after its revival.
