Introduced in 2022, the Angelus Chronodate is a powerful expression of the brand’s heritage reimagined for the future. This discerning reinterpretation of the brand’s famous 1942 chronograph — known for its unusual bi-compax design and pointer date mechanism — brings a revitalised approach 80 years later. The modern Chronodate tastefully blends the unique elements of the original with contemporary construction techniques and bold design, hallmarks of Angelus watches. The result is a dynamic sports watch collection that delivers sophistication and casual ease in equal measure.
Masterful Craftsmanship
The Chronodate is a stunning showcase of Angelus’ exceptional craftsmanship. The complex construction of the case, rendered primarily in titanium and rose gold for a few iterations, includes ingeniously created components, such as the hollowed case bands, angular lugs promoting high wearability, and a notched bezel. Through the cutouts on the sides, one can see a carbon fibre container inside the case housing the movement. This complex yet effective architecture reflects the brand’s forward-thinking approach to watchmaking. Additionally, calibre A-500, which powers all Chronodate watches, is a testament to the brand’s savoir-faire. It is inspired by the 1942 Chronodate calibre, driving the chronograph and date complications with much ease and precision. It is decorated with contemporary finishes, where the plates and bridges are NAC treated, sandblasted and micro-bead blasted. A fine circular graining adorns the wheel and other components.
A Bold Chronograph
The Angelus Chronodate watches have a striking look that could largely be attributed to their bold dials. They are available in a spectrum of hues, ranging from subtle silver to classic black and charming green and blue. A Chronodate spotlights the chronograph complication on its dial with two large and contrasting sub-counters. The date indication is positioned on the periphery and is marked by a red-tipped pointer hand for clear and intuitive reading. The perfectly sized 42.5mm case of a Chronodate watch is paired with either an integrated bracelet or a rubber strap.
