Established in 1976, Raymond Weil took his company to new heights in the international sphere in no time. He changed the shape of watch making with his fine Swiss-made designs, passion, and love for the arts. Raymond Weil is credited for creating a unique category of subtle sophistication, looking into finer aspects of every watch. The brand has made its name in its trade-mark music based collections. The Tango is a genre of music on, which the Tango inspired dance form is performed. The Tango collection is infused with the rhythmic movements, and is sensual like the dance form. The pieces for gents represent bold lines and virility, while the ones for ladies are graced with diamonds or mother of pearls. Another signature of the collection is the six screws on the rim of the case.
The single toned Tango 5391-SP5-00300 has a quintessential silver rimmed white dial, adorned with the trademark six screws of the collection. Bold black Roman numbers mark the hours, and minute markers are on a circle on the inside. It has a diameter of 39 mm, and a thickness of 7.9 mm.
Its rounded up dial is placed on a stainless steel bracelet, with a deployable double folding and double security clasp. The push/ pull crown is lacquered and emblematised with the distinct RW logo. The watch is magnificent, and doesn’t fail to impress.
The timeless Tango piece for men has quartz movement, with a calibre height of 2.5 mm. Along with the hour, minute, and seconds function, it performs the task of date telling through the date window at 3 o’clock. It is water resistant up to 100 m, and is sturdy due to the sapphire crystal on both sides. The crystal is glare-proof and scratch resistant.
Erol Ozan once said, “dancing is creating a sculpture that is visible only for a moment.” Raymond Weil adds a new dimension to this concept by crafting sculptures that are passionate, sensual, glamorous, and last for a lifetime. The Tango collection draws inspiration from the rawest dance form of all, Tango. Watches from this line give men and women a chance to observe a Tango between the two attributes Raymond Weil is renowned for- artistry and technique. Launched in 1995, the collection continues to mesmerize and dazzle even almost twenty years later.
The distinguishing characteristic of timepieces from the Tango collection lies in the six exposed screws embedded on the bezel, adding a raw element to the line. The round and rectangular shaped cases are made from stainless steel for ethereal glamour, and may be coated with yellow or rose gold PVD. Certain watches from the women’s version come inlaid with gems on the bezel in addition to the screws, to depict the glamour and lustre that comes hand in hand with being the female partner of the Tango. Watches from the Tango are available with dials in varying shades of white, black, and blue, with a centre having intricate workings that display Raymond Weil’s immaculate crafting skills. The time intervals are marked with Roman numerals, indexes, and gems.
The quartz movement of the Swiss made watches from the Tango collection ensures accurate timekeeping for the connoisseur. With single or dual date windows, certain chronograph editions of the men’s watches come with three subdials for seconds, 30-minute, and 12-hour intervals. The dial is protected by sapphire glass crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The stainless steel bracelets are available in two toned or pure options with double push folding clasps, while some watches have calf leather motif straps with traditional buckles.
