Rado is known world over as an innovator of technology in the field of watch-making. Their story began in 1917 with the establishment of a small family business in Lengnau, Switzerland. The founders Fritz, Ernst and Werner, believed in the infallibility of technology. So when in 1957, the company marketed its first line of watches under the brand name Rado, the world was impressed by the evidence of technological excellence. Materials like lanthanum, hardmetal, sapphire crystal and ceramic were used to improve the appearance and increase the longevity of the watches. This innovation led up to the manufacture of the DiaStar line, which was the first ever range of scratch proof watches. In 2004 again, Rado acquired another breakthrough by manufacturing the V10K. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, this watch was the hardest watch on the face of the earth.
In 1968, Rado had become a part of the ASUAG group. A few years later, the SMH Group acquired ASUAG. As a part of this group, called the Swatch Group since 1998, Rado persistently upholds its promise of innovations and maintenance of high standards in watch making.
A product of superior engineering, the very build of this sporty watch reflects its exceptional functionality. The large circular black dial is enclosed within an outer black, ceramic bezel and an internal tachymeter bezel. Small seconds are etched onto this inner bezel. Enclosed within a 42mm case, the silver tone stick hour indicators, watch hands and the red second hand are all coated with luminescent material to enable visibility in the dark. Scratch resistant sapphire crystal prevents damage to the dial.
A black rubber strap secured with a titanium double folding clasp with a push button enables the watch to be worn for a snug fit.
Endowed with features to go along with its appearance, the Rado R15378159 watch performs a chronograph function. Three sub-dials built on the main dial measure 12 hours, 30 minutes and small seconds. The tachymeter keeps track of the average speed measurement. A date window occurs between the 4 and 5 o’ clock positions. Powered by automatic technology, it delivers precise date and time updates. It is also endowed with the feature of water resistance to a depth of 100 meters under water.
Rado timepieces are not only unique but are a work of art. The history of Rado goes back to 1917 when three brothers in a small Swiss town established a clock work company. It was in 1957 that the brand launched its first collection of watches for men. In 1962 Rado launched the world’s first scratch resistant watch. Today watch lovers throughout the world admire timepieces from this brand for its use of innovative materials and design.
Simplicity reigns with this streamlined, sleek and dynamic collection. The D Star is inspired by sharp looks and are mostly crafted with three breakthrough materials – Ceramos, High-tech ceramic and carbon diffused steel.
Several famous actors, sports person, and stalwarts in different fields have been associated with the brand.
