Featuring a sporty yet elegant design, the Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow Co-Axial Chronograph 44.25 mm 3188.8.131.52.01.001, is perfect for both casual and formal use. It has a stainless steel case with bevelled edges, and polished bezel with tachymeter engravings in black. There is black dial encased inside with Geneva waves pattern decorated on it. Three sub dials are also exhibited on the dial, with stainless steel rings and a beehive texture.
Broad arrow shaped hour hand and dauphine shaped minute hand, made of stainless steel feature luminous coating, enabling you to read the time even in dark. Bold Arabic numerals have been used to mark the hours. Minute/second tracks have also been marked at the rim of the dial, and a date window is situated between the 4 and 5 o’clock position, for your ease of viewing. The dial and the transparent caseback of the watch are protected with an anti reflective sapphire crystal, which renders the watch scratch resistant and enhances sunlight legibility.
The side of the case features a signed crown, and two pushers made of stainless steel. A polished and brushed stainless steel bracelet has been used in the watch, with a push button foldover clasp at the end.
The sub dials feature 12 hours, 30 minutes, and 60 seconds’ chronographic functions. This timpeice is water resistant to 100 metres, enabling you to wear it while swimming. It has a power reserve of 52 hours, so you can easily keep the watch for two days without disrupting the movement.
Omega Co-Axial calibre 3313 has been used at the heart of the watch, which can be viewed through the transparent caseback. The free sprung balance system protects the movement from shocks and external damages.
Omega launched its range of Chronograph watches in the year 1957, under the Speedmaster collection. Originally, the watches in this collection were designed as a sports and racing chronograph, and not for space exploration. It was then selected by NASA in 1965 for all manned space flights.
This remarkable collection of Chronograph watches has been exemplified in several series. Featuring a timeless design, the rugged and reliable Moonwatch Chronograph, is a classic chronograph. The Speedmaster professional was the first watch to be worn on the moon and on all NASA’s manned missions since then. The Dark Side of the Moon collection is a tribute to the astronauts of the Apollo 8 who were the first to see the dark side of the moon. With a metallic grey bezel built from white ceramic, the Grey Side of the Moon has been inspired by the lunar dust, which has preserved all the steps of mankind on the moon. An updated form of the classic Mark II was launched in 2014, which features an illuminated tachymeter. Honouring the decades-long connection of the chronographs with motor racing, the Racing was launched. To commemorate the historic occasion of the first lunar landing, the Apollo 11 45th Anniversary was launched, with its case crafted from grade 2 titanium. Other compelling series from the Speedmaster Collection include the Speedmaster 57, HB-SIA, Skywalker X-33 and Spacemaster Z-33.
The first watch on the moon was the “Omega Speedmaster Professional Chronograph”, worn by astronaut Buzz Aldrin. The producer, director, writer, and Hollywood actor, Tom Hanks and the adventurer, explorer, and mountaineer, Reinhold Messner, have been seen wearing an Omega Seamaster Professional.
