The Planet Ocean 600M sub-collection was launched by OMEGA under its over-arching Seamaster collection, in 2005. It features watches that recall its maritime tradition and inheritance, especially the brand’s dive watch legacy. Every single timepiece under this collection features design elements that are original and contemporary, and which represent the brand’s great technological mastery so as to create a completely brand new line of Seamaster watches.
The 184.108.40.206.03.001 model sports a titanium case measuring 45.5mm in size, with a unidirectional turning bezel constructed on top. To ensure that the bezel and the diving scale do not corrode and scratch easily, they feature the brand’s use of Liquidmetal alloy in their construction. The dial, in the soft and serene blue colour of the ocean, is adorned with polished hands alongside indexes and Arabic numerals as hour-markers. For rapid date revision, it sports a date window at the 3 o’clock position.
A sturdy and ergonomically designed screw-in crown ensures the watch meets its duty of providing accurate time display along with a smooth winding of hands. To ensure it has a long shelf-life, sapphire crystal lens, that is scratch-resistant and anti-reflective, protects it from abrasion and bumps. The bracelet, made of stainless steel, also gives the watch its added resilience while safely securing it to the wrist.
This OMEGA timepiece operates on the Co-Axial calibre 8500, which one can clearly make out from its transparent case-back, for a swift and precise time movement. It offers a power reserve of 60 hours. The OMEGA time-teller has a water-resistance capacity of 600 metres, making it ideal for aquatic activities like diving. To ensure that the watch does not suffer significant damage while diving, its helium-escape valve design performs the function of releasing excess helium from the watch. Likewise, the self-locking crown also helps to maintain the watch’s water-resistance capability.
Launched in the year 1948, the Omega Seamaster Collection was inspired by the waterproof watches made toward the end of World War II for the British military. The watches in this collection have acclaimed worldwide fame due to their combination of exceptional stability and awe-inspiring designs. These watches are ideal for serious underwater sports and adventures.
This collection features several amazing series under it. First introduced in 1957, the Seamaster 300 Master Co-axial features the same dark dial, symmetrical case, big numbers and hands, and lighter indexes like its predecessor. The Planet Ocean 600M Collection showcases several watches with stunning designs and exclusive Co-axial movements. The Aqua Terra 150M Gents’ collection is easily recognizable because of its “Teak Concept” pattern on the dials. The Seamaster Aqua Terra Ladies’ Collection was the first to be equipped with the cutting-edge anti-magnetic Omega Master Co-Axial calibres. Available in lacquered black or blue dials, the Diver 300M Collection showcase white skeletonized hour and minute hands. The Ploprof 1200M is equipped with Co-axial caliber 8500 and is water-resistant up to 1200 meters. The winding crown located at the 12 o’clock position, surrounded by the two chronograph pushers at its sides; give the Bullhead collection its unique name.
In the James Bond movies since the release of GoldenEye in 1995, the character has consistently worn an Omega Seamaster. The Omega brand ambassador, Michael Phelps, an Olympic swimmer and multiple times gold medallist, wears the Seamaster Planet Ocean.
