In 1999, the first Co-Axial escapement was introduced by Omega, ushering in a revolution in the watch Industry. It was for the first time in 250 years that a practical new watch escapement made an appearance in the watch industry. Later on, in 2007, the brand began to launch the first exclusive Co-Axial movements which offered less friction, more efficiency and performance.
Classily robust – that’s how you can describe the styling of the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 220.127.116.11.01.002. It has a brushed steel casing topped off by a polished silver bezel. The case has a diameter of 43mm and is 15.5mm thick. This casing reminds you of luxury sail boats with its chiselled appearance. It houses an understated black dial that has linear patterns with the teak concept. The hands and the dial markers are made of stainless steel and filled with luminescent material. You can find the month and day window positioned near 3 o’clock. At the opposite side of the dial marker, outside the case, you can find a screw down crown as well. It can be used to adjust the date. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal that is also anti-reflective. The case back is also transparent and covered similarly with sapphire crystal. This allows you to watch the Caliber movement inside.
The precision time keeping of the watch is due to the Omega 8601 Caliber housed inside the case. It has Co-Axial movement that provides great stability, precision and durability. It has a silicon balance spring that ensures physical shocks have minimum impact on the movement. Also, this movement is COSC certified for accurate timekeeping. The watch also features an Annual Calendar which needs to be set only once a year. To top it off, this chronometer is built to be water resistant down to a depth of 150 metres.
Launched in the year 1948, the Omega Seamaster Collection was inspired by the waterproof watches made toward the end of World War II for the British military. The watches in this collection have acclaimed worldwide fame due to their combination of exceptional stability and awe-inspiring designs. These watches are ideal for serious underwater sports and adventures.
This collection features several amazing series under it. First introduced in 1957, the Seamaster 300 Master Co-axial features the same dark dial, symmetrical case, big numbers and hands, and lighter indexes like its predecessor. The Planet Ocean 600M Collection showcases several watches with stunning designs and exclusive Co-axial movements. The Aqua Terra 150M Gents’ collection is easily recognizable because of its “Teak Concept” pattern on the dials. The Seamaster Aqua Terra Ladies’ Collection was the first to be equipped with the cutting-edge anti-magnetic Omega Master Co-Axial calibres. Available in lacquered black or blue dials, the Diver 300M Collection showcase white skeletonized hour and minute hands. The Ploprof 1200M is equipped with Co-axial caliber 8500 and is water-resistant up to 1200 meters. The winding crown located at the 12 o’clock position, surrounded by the two chronograph pushers at its sides; give the Bullhead collection its unique name.
In the James Bond movies since the release of GoldenEye in 1995, the character has consistently worn an Omega Seamaster. The Omega brand ambassador, Michael Phelps, an Olympic swimmer and multiple times gold medallist, wears the Seamaster Planet Ocean.
