Specially crafted for those who love to travel, the IWC Ingenieur IW326403 features a titanium case enclosing a grey dial. Titanium, being equally tensile as steel but lighter in weight, renders the watch umpteen strength, and enhanced wrist comfort with the reduced weight. The grey dial is engraved with white indexes and appliquéd Arabic numerals as the prime hour markers of the watch, while the secondary 24 hour track is painted on the outer rim of the dial in white. Black toned squelette sword arms embellish the face of the dial to add a touch of style to the timepiece. The silver crown, set inside the black edge of bezel, calibrates the hand motion on the dial.
Extra comfort is offered by the use of the black rubber strap attached to the bezel of the watch as the user can easily wear, and remove this timepiece anytime with its tang pin-buckle. Crowned with the IWC logo, and possessing a strong case back, the timepiece proudly flaunts its exquisite and elegant elements.
The IWC Ingenieur IW326403 is water resistant to an extent of 120 meters, making this timepiece a perfect companion while swimming. Its scratch resistant sapphire crystal case window restricts the inner sensitive elements of the dial from direct contact, and protects the dial from damage. Offering a power reserve of 42 hours, the calibre of this time keeper is driven with mechanical automatic movement, recharging on its own, using the natural motion of the wearer’s wrist. This timepiece also features a black date window with a white date display located on the 3 o’ clock position of the dial.
The 2013 Ingenieur watch celebrates the business collaboration of IWC with Mercedes AMG Petronas F1. The design pays tribute to these high speed machines by using the design material profoundly used in the motor racing vehicles.
The IWC Ingenieur collection was born and perfected as an answer to cumbersome drawbacks from using too many technical appliances in wristwatches. These watches were designed to reduce ill-effects caused by magnetic fields encountered by engineers. Extensive modifications to stem this problem and a unique bidirectional automatic movement by Albert Pellaton paved the way for the Ingenieur collection’s launch in 1955. The ingenious winding system perfected by Pellaton winds movement when the rotor moves either way, infinitely more efficient than the common restrictive unidirectional movement. The most distinctive Ingenieur watch of that period however, was crafted by the watch-making maestro Gerald Genta, who infused brilliant engineering in the making of the Ingenieur SL or Jumbo Ingenieur as it is often called.
The Ingenieur novelty lies in capturing succinctly the essence of that which it emulates. IWC famously partnered with Mercedes AMG in year 2005 and brought forth two titanium cased models creatively emulating race-car styles. The 2013 Ingenieur watch collection showers more affection on the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 collaboration. The watch exudes performance efficiency, energy conservation and sporty appeal. Materials such as ceramic, titanium and carbon commonly used in Formula One have been incorporated in this collection to showcase their strong bond. An ideal example of this is the Ingenieur Automatic Carbon Performance Ceramic which has been styled primarily from material typically used in motor racing.
IWC Schaffhausen grandly celebrated its partnership with the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team by putting up an exclusive pop-up exhibition in The Watch Gallery at Selfridges Wonder Room, London in May 2013. The exhibition proudly displayed the suave new look of the remodelled 2013 Ingenieur collection. IWC also celebrated the unveiling of two brand new models in the year 2014 in Schaffhausen, the Ingenieur Automatic Carbon Performance Ceramic as well as Ingenieur Dual Time.
