In an industry obsessed with round cases and ever-larger diameters, Nomos Glashütte have spent years perfecting Tetra, their Bauhaus-inspired square silhouette. With the Nomos Glashütte Tetra 27, the brand goes smaller, introducing two fresh dial executions that widen the appeal of their most compact case. Measuring just 27.5mm, it arrives in two versions: the pared-back Tetra 27 Duo and the Tetra 27 White with its sub-seconds dial.

The Tetra Story: Reduced to Essentials

When Nomos Glashütte launched in 1992, the Tetra was among the four timepieces that established the brand’s visual identity, joining the Tangente, Ludwig and Orion. Its square case has since become the collection’s defining feature. Where earlier Tetra references leaned into slightly larger proportions, the 27mm case is the family’s most restrained expression yet, joining existing steel and 18-karat gold Tetra 27 variants already in the line-up.

Two Faces of Nomos Glashütte Tetra 27

The Tetra 27 Duo, a two-hand-only model, distils timekeeping to its purest form with just two temperature-blued hands set against a white, silver-plated dial. A pale grey square anchors the centre, while a matching grey ring frames the minute track. The Tetra 27 White adds a sub-seconds display at six o’clock, its minute track playing on the idea of squaring the circle, with a single dot marking six o’clock. Three heat-blued hands complete the layout.

Both wear the same 27.5mm edge length in a narrow, square stainless-steel case with distinctive double-stepped Art Deco-style lugs. Both are also available with a sapphire crystal caseback.

Signature Mechanism In A Smaller Layout

Both watches are powered by Nomos’ hand-wound calibre DUW 4001 duo, developed and built entirely in-house. The movement features the Nomos swing system — their in-house balance-spring assortment—and a 53-hour power reserve.

Miniature Alternatives From Nomos Glashütte

Nomos also offers Tetra in two gold versions, which make a subtle statement in this size. Far from being scaled-down alternatives, these models preserve the distinctive character and minimalistic aesthetic of their larger counterparts. They are powered by the same high standards of German watchmaking, including in-house mechanical movements developed and manufactured in Glashütte.
