The actor who made quite a successful switch from being a superstar wrestler to an A-list Hollywood star was seen wearing a bold outfit in gold, and contrasted that with a vintage-looking watch. Dwayne Johnson was seen wearing a Radiomir in gold, with small seconds and a date display.

Rihanna | Super Bowl
One of the most popular R&B-pop artists in the world, Rihanna was the half-time performer at the Super Bowl this year. Always headlined by the biggest names from the music scene, this time it was Rihanna’s turn to take over the spot during American football’s annual event. She wore an all-red ensemble, and complemented it with her own Jacob & Co watch. A long-time friend of the brand, Rihanna chose the bejewelled, skeletonised Brilliant Northern Lights, with a tinted red dial and a red strap. The watch was reportedly from her own collection.

Another friend of a brand, Anya Taylor-Joy made a striking appearance at the film awards of the BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) in London on February 19. The star of The Menu opted for a little gold dress, and paired it with an exquisite bracelet watch from Jaeger-LeCoultre. Designed to conceal the dial, and to be opened when required, the closed face of the watch features a floral pattern, realised with marquise- and baguette-cut white diamonds.

On his home turf in England, actor Eddie Redmayne was another ambassador representing his brand at the British film awards. Redmayne, who’s been garnering attention for his red carpet choices this awards season paired his bold attire with Omega’s lifestyle-sport Aqua Terra, with a dial in a muted hue, but with a radiant sunray finish.

English actor Richard E Grant was the primary emcee of the BAFTAs this time. He turned out in a white ensemble, as he kept the audience engaged whenever he took the stage. Grant seemed to have been wearing two watches at the event. While one wasn’t very clear, the other was definitely a Breitling Navitimer Chronograph—a B01 in-house edition at that. It was most likely a steel model, with gold on the slim, knurled bezel.

One of the celebrities who have been seen wearing Omega throughout this awards season, Barry Keoghan took the spotlight at the BAFTAs especially, as he won an award for his supporting role in The Banshees of Inisherin. The Irish actor, who’s been colour-coordinating a lot lately, had chosen a blue Speedmaster 57 at the Golden Globes last month to go with his pastel blue outfit. At the BAFTAs, he picked the burgundy version of the vintage-inspired Speedmaster 57 chronograph watch to pair with his bold red tuxedo.

The more iconic Speedmaster, the famous Moonwatch, was the timepiece of choice for Jamie Dornan. The actor from Northern Ireland kept things classic with a double-breasted black tuxedo, and selected the Moonwatch in Sedna gold and black to go with it. This Speedmaster using Omega’s proprietary alloy of 18-karat red gold was introduced in 2021—one of the more recent editions of the only watch worn on the moon.

Brendan Fraser | BAFTA Awards
A frontrunner for this year’s best actor Oscar, Brendan Fraser was a nominee at the British film awards for his turn in Daren Aronofsky’s The Whale. The American actor best known for The Mummy films, also chose a black, double-breasted tux, and offset it with a Constellation Globemaster in steel and gold, with a grey dial and brown leather strap. The signature pie-pan dial, surrounded by a finely fluted bezel features month markers, interspersed with the hour indices, as a key part of the annual calendar feature of the timepiece.

Fraser stuck with Omega even at the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Awards that took place on February 26. Winner of the best actor prize for The Whale at these awards, Fraser went with an all-black look at the event, and offset that with an all-blue De Ville Prestige. One of Omega’s dressiest watches, this timepiece is known for its minimalistic alternating Roman numeral hour markers applied on a convex dial with a refined sunray finish.

SAG Award winner Ke Huy Quan has been wearing Omega throughout this awards season. A lock-in for the Oscar win for supporting actor, Quan won his SAG for Everything Everywhere all at Once—the big winner of the event, winning four awards. He went with a black-tie look, and paired it appropriately with an all-black De Ville Prestige—the quintessential dress watch indeed.

The Amazing Spider-Man star, Andrew Garfield has been wearing only Omega lately. This was also the case at the SAG Awards, where he presented the life achievement award to veteran actress Sally Field, who was aunt May to his Peter Parker in his Spider-Man films. The Oscar-nominated actor went open-collar with his double-breasted black tuxedo, and paired that with an Omega De Ville Trésor in blue. A long-time friend of the Schaffhausen-based IWC, James Marsden was seen at the SAG Awards in a pale blue ensemble with an oversized bowtie. In contrast to his attire was his IWC Portugieser Automatic. A time-only edition from the signature collection of IWC, this white-dial watch features golden central hands and hour numerals, and a blued small seconds hand at six.

Another actor associated with IWC, John Krasinski went with a Portugieser as well. He was wearing a chronograph edition, with a black dial, featuring a vertical-bicompax layout of the sub-dials. He attended the event alongside his wife, actress Emily Blunt, who has also associated with IWC in the past. A previous SAG Award winner, Blunt was nominated this year for her role in the limited series, The English.

Former Glee actor Harry Shum Jr was among the winning ensemble of Everything Everywhere all at Once, which won the SAG Award for cast in a motion picture. Shum, who also presently stars in hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, went with an all-black look, and paired it with a white-dial De Ville Prestige from Omega—a collection of choice of many this awards season.
