SpotlightThe Tudor Black Bay Chronograph Flamingo Blue Colours Outside The Lines

Tudor are getting playful with their latest release, and we're here for it. The new Black Bay Chronograph 'Flamingo Blue' proves serious watches can have a sense of humour

May We Recommend

They say naming is everything. Tudor must have missed that memo, or perhaps they’re just having more fun than the rest of us. After turning heads with their pink chronograph last year, they’ve returned with what they’re calling the Black Bay Chronograph ‘Flamingo Blue’—a watch that’s definitely blue, definitely not flamingo-coloured, and has definitely got people talking.

Tudor are dropping a slice of Miami into their lineup, bringing some South Beach energy to their collection. It’s turquoise, it’s bold, and it’s exactly the kind of move that’s made Tudor interesting to watch lately. The last few years have seen them step out of their comfort zone, and this might be their most playful paradox yet—taking their serious chronograph and giving it a dial that belongs on a poolside cocktail menu.

The Name Game Of The Flamingo Blue

Tudor know that flamingos aren’t blue—they say as much in their own press release. But they suggest that if you were to imagine a ‘flamingo blue’, you’d land on this exact shade of turquoise, the colour of waters where these pink birds wade. It’s the kind of logic that only makes sense after a few mojitos, but that’s entirely the point.

The Watch Guide
The case remains the familiar Black Bay Chronograph blueprint at 41mm wide and 14.4mm thick, crafted in stainless steel with alternating brushed and polished surfaces

This follows last year’s pink chronograph, which proved to be quite a hit, especially afterDavid Beckham was spotted wearing it. But while that release played it straight with its name, this one feels like Tudor are having a bit of fun. They’ve even created a new ‘Daring Watches’ collection category, which seems less like marketing and more like giving themselves permission to experiment.

The Technical Story Of The Flamingo Blue

The case remains the familiar Black Bay Chronograph blueprint at 41mm wide and 14.4mm thick, crafted in stainless steel with alternating brushed and polished surfaces. The fixed bezel carries a black anodised aluminium insert with a tachymeter scale. A screw-down crown and pushers contribute to the 200m water resistance.

The dial is the main story—a matt turquoise surface contrasting with black sub-dials at three and nine o’clock. Tudor’s hands, including the snowflake hour hand, and applied markers are rhodium-plated and filled with Super-LumiNova. The date window sits at six o’clock with a white background.

Inside beats the MT5813, Tudor’s modified version of the Breitling B01. The automatic chronograph movement features a column wheel and vertical clutch. It’s COSC-certified and further adjusted by Tudor to run between -2 and +4 seconds per day. Other specifications include a silicon balance spring, a 70-hour power reserve, and 41 jewels.

Final Thoughts

There’s a peculiar authenticity to what Tudor are doing here. The Flamingo Blue isn’t trying to justify its existence with limited numbers or elaborate storytelling. It’s just Tudor taking their proven chronograph and having some fun with it. Some might question naming a turquoise watch after a distinctly pink bird, but that’s part of the charm. In a field of safe choices, Tudor have chosen to be interesting—despite the questionable ornithology and all.
