SpotlightBaby Steps Into The World Of GMT: Introducing The Ressence TYPE 7

With the TYPE 7 Night Blue and XV Aquamarine, Ressence have unveiled their first-ever GMT watch at Watches and Wonders 2025 that comes with a titanium tonneau-shaped case and a matching integrated bracelet

May We Recommend

Following proverbial watchmaking norms isn’t something that appeals to Ressence. With the Belgium-born watchmaker, timekeeping is simple, interactive, and a lot of fun. Take for example the use of rotating discs to create the illusion of hands moving across the dial or the oil-filled dials that create an illusion of the time display being afloat. This year, Ressence have upped their game with their first-ever GMT watch available in two versions—the Night Blue and XV Aquamarine. By unveiling the GMT variant, the brand hits multiple birds with one stone; a showcase at the 2025 edition of Watches and Wonders, a new case made entirely from Grade 5 titanium, and their achievement of completing 15 years in the watch business. Unlike any other timepiece in their collections, TYPE 7 features a tonneau case, known for its distinct curved profile and vintage-inspired aesthetic. Both timepieces feature titanium bracelets. The oil-filled, signature domed dial of the sporty-chic tool watch is available in either classic deep blue or soothing blue-green aquamarine. The TYPE 7 celebrates Ressence’s 15 years of watchmaking with two bluish dial variants, with the XV Aquamarine being a limited-edition watch.

The All-New TYPE 7: First Ressence GMT Tool Watch

Ressence are known for their innovative designs and mechanics, and the TYPE 7 is no exception. This latest creation from the brand is housed within a 41mm Grade 5 titanium case. Inside the tonneau-shaped case is the signature oil-filled Ressence dial, giving the impression that time is literally floating on top of the sapphire crystal. This unique dial not only adds depth but also is a functional design execution offering great legibility.

A Delightful Motley Of Materials

The TYPE 7, however, is ‘more than just a pretty face’. Equipped with a GMT complication, it lets you keep track of time across multiple time zones. And in a first for the brand, the TYPE 7 features an integrated Grade 5 titanium bracelet, complete with an ergonomic deployant clasp that is adjustable up to five different positions. The Night Blue edition is fixed with a ceramic bezel for an attractive finish, while the XV Aquamarine goes for lightweight aluminum for its bezel. Timekeeping in the dark is again effortless, courtesy the engraved dial indications filled with blue Super-LumiNova. Both blue variants of the watch can be paired with either a leather or a rubber strap. Powering the TYPE 7 is Ressence’s patented ROCS 7 movement, which beats at 28,800vph and achieves up to 36-hour power reserve.
