The Big Crown Pointer Date has been a part of the Oris family for over 80 years. But the updates presented at Watches and Wonders 2025 appear to give the collection a new lease on life. With new dial hues in warm yellow, turquoise blue and calming lilac, the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date collection will now appeal to a whole new generation of enthusiasts. Besides these, there are updates in salmon pink ‘terracotta’ or khaki green to the dials of the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date Calibre 403 watches as well. Another update to the collection is the new steel bracelet that gives the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date line a sporty appeal.

Cool New Updates For The Oris Big Crown Pointer Date Calibre 403
In 2022, Oris released the Big Crown Pointer Date Calibre 403 update, with a small seconds sub-dial instead of a central seconds hand. Other design updates gave the watch a contemporary appeal. And the new calibre also offered a power reserve of five days, enhanced efficiency and anti-magnetism. However, like the other Big Crown Pointer Date timepieces, the overall aesthetic remained traditional, with a dial in grey, blue or black. Now, the new dial options in green and terracotta pink offer a more modern appeal. Arabic numerals and pencil shaped hands are filled with Super-LumiNova.
The steel case of the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date Calibre 403 is sized at 40mm. A sapphire crystal glass window on the caseback offers a view of the calibre 403, with a power reserve of 120 hours, or five days. The 2025 update presented at Watches and Wonders includes a steel bracelet with H-Shaped links featuring brushed and polished finishes. Alternatively, the watch is paired with a Cervo Volante leather strap.

Technicolour Dials Of The Oris Big Crown Pointer Date
Bright new dials in yellow, turquoise blue and a deep lilac hue seem to have infused the collection with renewed zest. While the Big Crown Pointer Date still features all the distinctive identifiers of a pilot’s watch, the aviation aspects have been toned down to highlight contemporary design codes instead. For example, cathedral hands have been replaced with more practical pencil hands, and the central pointer date arrow no longer features a red arrowhead. Instead, the arrowhead is displayed in a hue marginally different from that of the dial. What this does, then, is highlight the date, only should one choose to focus on it. Practical, check. Efficient, check. Framed by a 40mm steel case, which also houses the Oris 754 calibre, the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date timepieces are paired with the brand’s new ergonomic three-link bracelet.
For a collection that is almost a century old, this revamp seems to have been overdue. Especially when one sees how much life the new hues add to an entire line of Oris Big Crown Pointer Date watches.
