The Romain Jerome Titanic DNA Watch11:24 am
Every watch collector dreams of owning a watch from an actual moment in world history. Such watches are extremely rare and are mostly found in public or private museums. They are usually not for sale and the few that are, may be auctioned, but at mind blowing prices! The desire of a watch collector to own a piece of history is what inspired Romain Jerome to create wrist watches with the DNA of famous events.
The DNA of the Titanic – In a Wrist Watch
In April 1912 the legendary Titanic first set sail in the Atlantic waters. Made with the finest metals and materials at the Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Ireland, this grand ship was a legend of the industrial age. The grandeur and luxury of this beautiful ship made world headlines. To mark the 100th anniversary of the glorious Titanic, Romain Jerome has created a timepiece that is reminiscent of the grand voyage made by this legendary ship.
The Romain Jerome Titanic-DNA watch collection features a special bezel which is made using actual metal from the Titanic. Each timepiece in this collection has an oxidized steel bezel which is a noble blend of actual steel from the wreck lying 3,840 metres below sea level and steel provided by the Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast. The bezel is oxidized in a water treatment process for several days to get the rusted exterior. The rusty look is reminiscent of the actual ship metal that touches sea water deep inside the ocean.
A tribute to the famous cruise liner’s spirit of adventure, the Romain Jerome Titanic DNA watches have a piece of the maritime legend deep inside them. The only brand in the world that allows a watch collector to literally own a chunk of actual history, Romain Jerome is a collector’s dream come true.
Romain Jerome Titanic-DNA Steampunk Auto – RJ.T.AU.SP.002.02
To mark the 1ooth Anniversary of the Titanic, Romain Jerome offers a tribute by creating a specially designed luxury timepiece, which captures the spirit of the legendary ship. The Romain Jerome Titanic-DNA Steampunk Auto watch features the famous oxidized steel bezel of the Titanic DNA collection of watches. The watch has an industrial design with a familiar semblance to the steam engine that powered luxury liners of the Titanic era. The legend of the Titanic lives on with the artistic and contemporary timepiece.
The stabilized rusted steel bezel brings the rugged looking Romain Jerome Steampunk Auto to life. The 50mm steel and black PVD-coated steel case has a dial integrated with the watch movement, which is a self winding mechanical engine. The skeleton black watch hands and the oversized Roman markers at the 12 and 6 o’clock positions give the watch a rare but luxurious look. The Ruthenium coloured bridge with 4 steel pistons and ruthenium bearings bring out the industrial design well. A small rusted propeller shaped seconds indicator moves gently, as if maneuvering the ship at sea. A black rubber or Hornback crocodile strap is selected by the customer as the watch is on special order only.
Historical charm coupled with inimitable art make the Titanic-DNA watch a must have for the discerning watch collector. Wearing such a watch is indeed a sign of the unorthodox thought and intellectual freedom of the watch’s owner. Limited to only 100 pieces, each Romain Jerome Steampunk Auto is an emotional timepiece that tells the story of the majestic Titanic. Our recommendation: plan your purchase well in advance to avoid any disappointment!
