With the rise in popularity of vintage watches, there is also a demand for small or bite-sized models, appealing to horologists and aficionados alike. Serving this need are celebrated watchmakers such as Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and Longines, who are rolling out timepieces inspired by the Art Deco movement of the 1900s. Recently, Longines introduced the Mini DolceVita in yellow or rose gold—a first for the collection. Presented in four different versions: two gem-set with bracelets and the other two unset with leather straps, these new releases attract a wide range of people with distinct tastes.
Taking inspiration from their 1927 model, Longines launched the first DolceVita (meaning ‘good life’ in Italian) in 1997. Featuring the instantly-recognisable rectangular case, the collection enjoyed a successful streak spanning over two decades. Continuing the momentum, the brand released the Mini DolceVita with a square-ish case in 2023. Measuring just 21.50mm by 29.00mm, the series featured watches in an impressive range of materials and colours, with or without diamonds. A year later, the watchmaker introduced a set of new models sporting double tour straps—a design exclusive to Longines. Presented in black, beige gold, pink, red, orange, or green Nappa leather, these releases further extended the line, offering variety.
Now, the Mini DolceVita is being presented in gold for the first time. Elegant with a discreet profile, the new timepieces retain some of the original design elements, while also evoking the richness of gold. Here’s more.
Timely And Timeless: The Longines Mini DolceVita
Measuring 21.50mm by 29.00mm (as the previous iterations), the rectangular cases of these timepieces are crafted in 18-karat yellow or rose gold, offering a water resistance of up to 30m. Each of the two leading versions features 38 Top Wesselton diamonds on both sides of its case, while the other two models are unset. All four timepieces feature a rectangular silvered Roman dial, with small seconds sub-dial at six o’clock. The dial showcases beautiful flinqué decoration, with delicate geometric motifs embossed in relief with a guilloché-work effect—adding depth and character to the watch. The motifs are further complemented by painted blue Roman numerals and matching steel hands, enhancing the vintage look of the timepiece.
The two gem-set versions are presented on a 106-link yellow- or rose-gold bracelet, equipped with a triple safety folding clasp and push-piece opening mechanism; the bracelet is finely assembled in a staggered formation providing greater comfort to the wearer. Alternatively, the other two variants come with black alligator leather straps, featuring a tongue buckle in 18-karat yellow or rose gold, matching the colour of its respective case.
Powering these stunning jewelled timepieces is the high-precision L178 quartz movement, with a Renata 379 battery and an EOL indicator. Whether one wants to invest in gold or make a stylish statement, with the new Longines Mini DolceVita on one’s wrist, they can do both.
