Under the leadership of Manuel Emch, a veteran in the world of watchmaking—particularly in repositioning and reviving luxury watch brands—Louis Erard have focused on artistic collaborations ever since 2020, with many of them featuring the Le Régulateur as the driving force behind the innovation. In a way, that makes for an interesting study of the different kinds of approach artists go for. The base for all their designs remains the same—the Le Régulateur; however, the designs birthed from collaborations with different artists or watchmakers are all wildly different from each other; take, for example, the time-eating monster, made in collaboration with Konstantin Chaykin, or the puzzling all-black piece of art (the Le Régulateur Louis Erard X Olivier Mosset). The new iteration of the Le Régulateur created with Sylvie Fleury follows suit by being as different as it can possibly be from the rest, with aesthetics that are inspired by make-up palettes and trying to reinvent the norm of consumer culture.

The Details Of The Le Régulateur Louis Erard X Sylvie Fluery
At first glance, this watch has an almost mysterious charm. Housed in a 39mm polished black PVD-coated stainless steel case, its design is inspired by a makeup palette—a signature element in Sylvie Fleury’s artistic world. Known for transforming everyday consumer objects into bold artistic statements, Fleury’s influence is evident in the way the dial balances minimalism with a striking presence. Adding to the glamour of the inspiration itself is the glossy black leather strap that ties it all together. As much like a statement piece as it is a timekeeping tool, Sylvie Fleury’s interpretation of Louis Erard’s regulator is limited to 178 pieces.
At the heart of this timepiece lies the Sellita SW266-1 automatic movement. Operating at a frequency of 28,800vph, and offering a power reserve of about 38 hours, the movement boasts an open-worked oscillating weight engraved with the brand’s symbol, visible through the transparent black caseback. This movement is housed in a case water-resistant to 50m.
The Art Behind The Le Régulateur Louis Erard X Sylvie Fleury
Sylvie Fleury’s philosophy underpins every aspect of this creation. Through her transformation of makeup palettes into abstract art, she questions how objects—no matter how trivial—can shape perceptions of power and beauty. Her collaboration with Louis Erard extends this narrative into the world of fine watchmaking, challenging traditional notions of gendered luxury and redefining what a timepiece can represent.
The hallmark of Louis Erard’s regulator series, the ‘three in-line hands’ design, is elevated with bold colours. Coral hues grace the hour counter at 12 o’clock, while the seconds counter at six o’clock features a vivid magenta with a matt finish—hues used to resemble makeup pans. The choice of shades, as well as their arrangement on the dial, mirrors the aesthetics of a makeup palette, transforming a traditionally utilitarian element of a watch into something playful and artistic.
The hands further enhance the artistic aesthetic: the seconds hand is finished in matt magenta lacquer, the hour hand in matt coral lacquer, and the polished minute hand features a black PVD treatment, like the inky black, polished and lacquered background. Making a subtle presence on the, the Louis Erard logo and name of the artist are seen at three and nine o’clock, respectively.
As Sylvie Fleury puts it, “Boldness is one of the superpowers of this timepiece.” Whether or not the statement will be appreciated by those who hold the watch in their hands is yet to be seen, but if one were to comment simply on the design codes of the watch, ‘bold’ is certainly a word that will used for this Sylvie Fleury special edition.
