Mr. Jacques Alain Vuille – Global Vice President and Member of Board, Corum, was in India to formally announce a new strategic partnership with Ethos Watch Boutiques. The Watch Guide got a chance to speak to the man himself and share with us what he has in store for India in the coming months:
Thank you for taking out time for us, Mr. Vuille! The world has seen unique timepieces from Corum. Right from the Admiral’s Cup to the Bubble and, of course, the Golden Bridge. What inspires Corum always to come up with the unconventional?
Mr. Vuille: Since its foundation by Mr. René Bannwart in 1955, Corum has always been creative and very exclusive. The motto of the founder was to be different, to create and to produce watches which are distinctive. After that, his son, Mr. Jean René Bannwart and since the year 2000, Mr. Severin Wunderman, have continued to work in this direction. What is important for Corum is to have a story behind all creations. Even after the acquisition by City Champ and the arrival of Mr. Davide Traxler as the head of the Company, this remains the primary goal when designing and developing every new product. New designs, new material, new complications in movement – all these ingredients are very much a part of Corum’s spirit.
The Golden Bridge, in particular, has made a lot of buzz in this part of the world. What makes it so special?
Mr. Vuille: It’s linear movement made with three bridges in 18ct rose or white gold! The Bridge is unique around the world, and Corum is very proud to be exclusive to this model. This movement is available in mechanical and an automatic version as well. The linear ‘Bridge’ movement is now available in either a transparent sapphire case which allows a 360-degree view of the movement or with a new round case with an 18ct decoration.
Are we seeing any new ‘unconventional’ watches coming from Corum?
Mr. Vuille: Most of the models in the Corum collection are unconventional. The last one was the ‘Bubble’ with its domed sapphire and unusual dial designs. In 2017, we will launch a new version of the Bubble with new series of dials limited to 88 pieces each. We’ll reveal those at Baselworld 2017!
“With the support of Ethos Watch Boutiques, Corum will take another step forward in the Indian market…”
How has Corum’s journey in India been so far?
Mr. Vuille: Everything has worked well for the brand in India, and I’m lucky to have worked with some of the best partners here.
We also know you are here to announce a new strategic partnership with Ethos in India. What do you expect coming out of this new partnership?
Mr. Vuille: With the support of Ethos Watch Boutiques, Corum will take another step forward in the Indian market. The awareness of Corum is already well perceived by the Indian customers, and I’m sure this will only grow in the years to come.
How do you want Indians to perceive Corum as a brand?
Mr. Vuille: Corum is a niche brand with very exclusive and exquisite designed products. The Golden Bridge and the Admiral’s Cup, especially the Legend 42 has done well in India. I think one of the main reasons why Corum and its watches have done so well is because the ratio between price and quality is spot on – something we work hard to achieve.
Do you have a message for Indian watch lovers?
Mr. Vuille: Do not hesitate to buy a Corum watch. You will always be treated as a member of the Corum family and the watch on your wrist will forever be unique and personal!
Corum watches are available exclusively in India at Ethos Watch Boutiques.
