About the Seiko Kinetic Collection
History
Japan is known for its technical acumen and ingenuity and with Seiko carrying those traditions, it is highly likely that they will come up with innovative ideas every now and then. This is further corroborated by the Seiko Kinetic collection. Fitted with the world’s first movement featuring both the quartz and a mechanical movement, the Seiko Kinetic movement was first introduced in 1986 at the Basel Fair. Since then, the Seiko Kinetic collection has been added with more features and accomplishments that have previously studded this brilliant collection.
Movement
To better understand the collection, one needs to understand the movement powering the collection. A kinetic watch or, better said a kinetic movement works on a principle similar to automatic movements with changes to the way it is powered. Specifically, automatic watches are powered by the wearer’s movement that powers their spring. In case of kinetic movements, the wearer’s moves charge a piece of quartz crystal; the charged energy is then stored in a battery, called a capacitor. So, simply stated, the main difference between an automatic and kinetic watch is in the processing of the energy made by the watch’s wearer.
Features
These simple, elegant set of timepieces feature a collection of dauphine and sword hands. Apart from the hands, the Kinetic collection also features a date window at the 3 o’clock marker with a day marker spanning between the 4 and 7 o’clock marker.

This is a pretty nice watch for the price here on Ethos. A couple of things I noticed: the dial seems to be higher than the case (might be more prone to scratching); but provides a good display. The date and day information is quite good and does not messes up the dial of the watch even though the date indicator is small for this watch. Seiko logo is elevated from the face and appears to be metallic. the case is highly polished all the way around. The leather band complements the dial but a metal strap would have been even better. the lined design inside the dial looks quite clean and comes upto the expectation of the Seiko brand when it comes to design. The watch comes in the sub 20K price , so it a good deal. I am giving 3 stars as i think a metal strap would have been much more appropriate.

Though it is a sub 20K watch, it screams quality.
Very well made to last the elements.
Been using it for over 2 weeks now and I brush it every other day and it keeps its shine
like a gem. The huge battery reserve with the automatic helps to avoid worries of resetting every time I don't
use it for more than a couple of days.
The black and gold combination stands out! There is a white too but the black on black is the one that
stands out. Wont go wrong with this one. -

With a gold plated case, the black coloured dial gives it a smart look. I think this combination makes the watch look very graceful.
