the Oyster Perpetual Submariner 116610LV was the first watch ever to be made waterproof. First introduced in 1953, it was then water resistant to 100 metres. Through the years this fantastic innovation has evolved for the better. Today the Rolex Submariner keeps you at pace with time to a depth of 300 meters (1,000 ft) under water.
This timeless innovation that brings your daily schedule into perspective has a round green color dial which is 40 mm in diameter. This visual interface has a Chromalight display which makes it glow a lovely blue shade in the dark making time telling simple. The Cyclops lens (2.5x) over the date makes the date more distinctive for better reading.
The oyster monobloc middle case is a superb innovation by Rolex that keeps the timepiece perfectly water resistant and safe from dust and pressure. The timepiece is a bracelet made of high quality steel with flat three piece links. The trip lock winding crown is excellently designed to triple the waterproofing and is attached to the oyster case to keep it secure. The Bezel of the timepiece is unidirectional and rotatable. Intricately graduated up to 60 minutes, it is scratch resistant with green Cerachromic insert. The numerals and graduations on the bezel are richly coated with platinum.
This watch has a caliber of 3135, which means that it has a self winding mechanical movement. It comes with stop-seconds for accurate time reading. The Swiss chronometer is precise to the seconds and is certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). The blue Parachrom hair spring that constitutes the watch cushions it from shocks and changes in temperature. While scuba diving the watch can be easily slipped on over the diver’s suit as the guide lock extension system allows adjusting the size of the bracelet while keeping it secure.

In 1953, an era when scuba diving was all the rage, the Rolex Submariner was introduced at the Basel Fair. A popular choice as a commercial diver's watch, it was the first timepiece to be resistant to water at a depth of 100 meters. One of the most iconic collections from Rolex, the Submariner has over the years incorporated various technical modifications while staying true to the quintessential design it came to be known for.

A Submariner flaunts a 40-mm steel case with a screw-down case back. Fitted with a screw-down winding crown, the timepiece is equipped with the Triplock triple waterproofness system that assures water-resistance to a depth of 300 metres. The scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass is also provided with a Cyclops lens over the date indicator located at the 3 o'clock position in the dial in the Submariner Date models. The three-link steel bracelet ends into a safety clasp that can also be extended. In the 2008 and later models, the unidirectional bezel boasts of gold or platinum-coated numerals. The dial sports seconds, minutes, hour hands and markers those which are luminescent; aiding in easy readability.

A number of Bond movies have had James Bond sport a Submariner on his wrist. In 1960, The renowned diving company COMEX of France conferred the Submariner as their gadget of choice for saturation divers.  The Submariner has also been consistently popular with military divers since it has proved its finesse in the most extreme of water conditions through the years.

Rolex submariner is a must have for any diver watch enthusiast. This watch is the first ever certified diver watch produced, later other rivals came up with their incarnations. Still submariner is the the perennial King in diver watches. The watch is solid yet durable. The luminescent markers are visible even 400 m under water. The bezel allows divers to calculate elapsed time. The big magnification glass magnifies the date window 2× times. The crown is screwed down and locked for water resistance.

What more ,well it's a Rolex and an investment .if you 6 lakh rupees and a watch aficionado go ahead, bet your money on this timepiece.Submariner has a wide variety of colour choices but I find the oyster green the best.

But proceed with caution as there are a larger number of counterfeits (had bitter experiences in the past)
