Brand
Rolex as a brand has altered the image of the watch industry phenomenally. Making numerous breakthroughs in technology, Rolex has always designed watches that belong to a different league. Every timepiece is perfectly designed lending it an unmatched class of style and quality.
72600 Silver Index belongs to the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust which is one of the world’s finest watches.

Design
Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Just M116200-72600 sports a 36 mm stainless steel case mounted by a dome shaped bezel. It is a monobloc middle case with a screw down case back and a winding crown attached to it that has a twin lock system that makes it waterproof. The case features a sapphire crystal glass that is scratch resistant. The timepiece flaunts a bracelet strap that is made in polished steel with flat three-piece links ending in a folding Oysterclasp with a 5 mm easylink comfort extension. The dial is silver in colour flaunting stick style hands and luminescent Arabic markers that enhance visibility in the dark.

Features
The Rolex houses a perpetual, mechanical, self-winding automatic function with a 3135 calibre movement. It is also water resistant to a depth of 100 meters and is an officially certified Swiss chronometer (COSC). The dial shows a date function at the 3 o’clock position which is fitted with a Cyclops lens ensuring greater clarity. The timepiece features a rapid date function and time setting with its stop-seconds and instantaneous date settings. It also facilitates bidirectional self-winding via a perpetual rotor and a paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring oscillator that lends fluidity to the hand movements.

History
The Datejust collection was introduced by Rolex in the year 1945. This was the first wristwatch to display automatically changing date through an opening on the dial.

Features
Featuring a classic design and iconic style, the Datejust features a date window located at the 3 o’clock position for your ease in viewing. The date aperture showcases the Cyclops lens on the top, the most distinctive feature of Rolex watches. This lens magnifies the date by approximately two and half times for clear legibility. The watches in this collection have an oyster case, which is clamped shut and extremely robust. The core of the oyster consists of a screw-down case and a signed screw-down crown with twinlock system. This system renders the watches water-resistant up to 100 metres, enabling you to wear them for poolside swimming and snorkelling. The Datejust watches come with two classic Rolex bracelets, either the Jubilee or the Oyster. The Jubilee is a five-piece metal link bracelet with a concealed Crownclasp fitted at the end, and the Oyster is a broad three-piece metal link bracelet, which is quite popular because of its classic appeal. These watches have a standard 36 mm case, and are equipped with a self-winding mechanical movement manufactured by Rolex, the calibre 3135.

Associations
A Datejust was presented to an eminent gentleman by Hans Wilsdorf in 1947, on the 100,000th officially certified chronometer celebrated by the brand. The identity of this gentleman has not been revealed till this day. Christian Bale was seen wearing the Rolex Datejust 16013, in the movie American Pyscho. A Datejust has also been worn by Paul Newman in the movie The Color of Money, Bill Murray in the film Lost in Translation, and by various male characters in The Informers.
